Instructional Materials: Dialogue

III. Procedure
A. Activity
 Motivation
1. The teacher will ask this question to the class; “What will you do if it
rains?”
2. The teacher guides the students’ responses starting with the words, “I
will”.
2.1. I will run.
2.2. I will open my umbrella.
 Presentation
The teacher presents a dialogue, and lets the class read it.

Rosa: Hi Ted! How do you foresee yourself ten years from now?
Ted: I will be an engineer. I will build my own house and have my own car. I will
have my own family.
Rosa: So do I. I will be achieving my dreams. I will do my best.
Ted: Let’s pray for these all. Bye Rosa!
Rosa: Bye Ted! I will pray for both of us.
B. Analysis
1. What have you noticed with the responses of Ted? How about Rosa’s answers?
 The use of “will”
C. Abstraction
Discussion on future tense by the teacher.
In English grammar, the simple future is a form of the verb that refers to an action
or event that has not yet begun.
Simple future tense is formed by putting will or shall before the first form of the
verb (will + basic form of the main verb). Note that shall is becoming much less common
in both speech and writing.
Examples:
1. I will see the doctor tomorrow.
2. The company will launch another green project next year.
3. After 2 years, the cost of the land will double.
4. DFA will release my passport before next month.
5. The first Aeta to graduate in UP will tell his story to us when he comes.

D. Application
D.1. The teacher asks students about their goals and aspirations. Students construct
sentence examples using will/shall to convey future tense of the verb.
a. I will __________________________.
b. I will __________________________.
c. I shall __________________________.

D.2. Communicate by Pair

Students are given 10 minutes to communicate with a pair by answering the following
questions below:
1. What will you do to help save Mother Earth?
2. What shall your parents say if you help someone in need?
3. How will you react if there is fire nearby?
4. Where shall you celebrate your high school graduation day?
5. When will you say that you’ve had enough of someone?

IV. Evaluation
Construct a sentence in future tense using each word in the list.
1. buy 6. read
2. create 7. identify
3. perform 8. assign
4. thank 9. participate
5. pray 10. patronize
V. Assignment
Write down a paragraph of what you will be ten years from now.
