Task 4. Design a lesson about teaching literature. Have the story in task 3 as the springboard.
I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. understand the meaning and purpose of paraphrasing;
2. learn the basic steps of paraphrasing; and
3. construct their own paraphrased sentences.
III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities:
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Energizer - Synonym Game
Students will be ask to write down any 20 English words on a one whole sheet
of paper. After 3 minutes, they will pass the paper to their classmate next to
them in a counter-clockwise manner. The first student to receive the paper
will write the synonyms of any words listed as many as he/she can in just 10
seconds. The cycle continues until the paper gets back to the owner. The
students will mark their answers so that scores will be easily verified.

B. Developmental Activities:
1. Drill
- The teacher will group the class into three (3).
- The teacher will give each group a paper containing a children’s story.
- The teacher will instruct the students to choose a representative from each
group to retell the story assigned to them.
2. Lesson Proper
- The teacher will discuss the lesson.
- The teacher will ask the students what information they got from the
lesson.
3. Generalization
- The teacher will ask: How did we extract information from the story?
- We listened attentively to extract information.
C. Application
Group Activity
1. The class will be divided with five (5) members per group.
2. The teacher will give the groups the same summary of the story “Go Set a
Watchman”.
3. Each group will read the summary and will be given 5 minutes for it.
4. Students shall paraphrase the summary of the story.
5. The students will be given another 5 minutes to paraphrase the story.
6. The teacher will give the criteria to the students to be guided.
