I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Predict phenotypic expressions of traits following simple Pattern of inheritance. (S8LT-IVf-
18)
1.1. Describe Mendel’s Law of Inheritance how traits are transferred from parents to
offspring.
1.2. Use and solve the genetic crosses to determine the dominant and recessive traits
1.3. Recognize the value of Mendel’s pea experiment in understanding heredity and variation
of traits.
III. PROCEDURE
A. DAILY ROUTINE
Prayer
Greetings
Classroom Management
Checking Of Attendance
The teacher will call students to answer some questions regarding the previous lessons.
The sample questions are:
What is the difference of Mitosis and Meiosis?
What are the stages/phases of Mitosis and Meiosis?
Why do you think mitosis is very important?
Describe us!
The teacher will present picture of a family then the students will observe the picture that
is being presented. Then, the teacher will ask some questions related to the picture.

What I get?
The teacher will ask the students to observe their such as their hair, eyes, cheeks, hand,
height and weight. Then, identify the traits that are similar to your parents. Fill in the
table below to show the traits that you and your parents possess. Put a check (/) if that
trait is present.
Observable traits
Character State Father Mother You
1. Hair a. curly hair
b. straight hair
2. Hand a. right-handed
b. left-handed
3. Dimples on a. present
cheek b. absent
4. Height a. tall
b. short
5. Weight a. chubby
b. slim
Then the teacher will ask students some questions regarding the activity and she will
present the objectives of the lesson.
The sample questions are:
What are the similarities of your mother and father?
What traits do you and your father have in common? Mother?
Do you show traits not common to your parents?
After completing the Punnet Square, the teacher will let them answer the given
questions.
The questions are:
What are the characteristics of the parents?
What are the characteristics of the offspring on the First Filial generation?
What happen to the other characteristic if all the offspring are just tall plants?
When these two-tall plants (Tt) were crossed, what are the offspring? Referring to
the Second Filial generation.
Based on the offspring on F2, which is considered as dominant trait? Which is the
recessive trait?
Watching Time!
The students will watch video regarding the Mendel’s experiments on pea plant.
What type of plants did Mendel study?
Why do you think Mendel choose peas for hiss experiments.
What are the seven characteristics that he used?
The teacher will call students to answer some questions. This will be done orally.
What is the significance of Mendel”s experiment to the study of genetics or
heredity?
To summarize the lesson, the teacher will ask the students to complete the table. They
will answer this activity orally.

EXTEND
Directions: Ask the learners to get a ¼ sheet of paper and answer the following.
