Game 4 Pics 1 word

The learners will look at the four picture given and then decode what
word tells the pictures. These words are very important in
understanding the lesson.
“Now class, what do you think is our topic for today?” That’s right! So our
lesson for today is all about the effect of sun to human activity.
B. Establishing a purpose of (English Integration - Literacy)
the new lesson
( Motivation) Now. Let us Read the poem “Be grateful for the sun”
(Engage 1)
Be Grateful for the Sun
By: Cesar S. Martin

I am grateful for the golden sun

That shines down on every daughter and son.
It’s heat makes our clothes dry each day
And allows us time to go out and play.

I am grateful for the golden sun

That gives farmers and fishermen full of fun.
It’s heat makes their crops dry
So, their children will never cry

I am grateful for the golden sun

That gives children and animals time to play, jump and run
It’s heat gives vitamin D
So, they have a healthy body

I am grateful for the golden sun

I will do my part, so it will not be gone.
Yes! It can harm everyone
But we will have to practice safety precautions as one.

Poem comprehension question:

According to the poem we read, what are the things given by the sun to
human and animals?
Let’s underline it.
C. Presenting examples/
instances of the new Direction: The teacher will group the class into 2. I will give each group
lesson an envelope that has puzzle picture inside, they should arrange the puzzle
(Engage 2) into each original picture form and the group will finish first the task
correctly will be the winner.
Note: Practice the safety protocols while doing the activity.

Group 1 – There is a mother and a baby under the sun.

Group 2 – A girl with a sunburn on her back.

The teacher will show the pictures to the class and ask them about it.
“What have you observed in the pictures class?”
Why is the baby exposed to sunshine early in the morning?
We will see what could be the meaning of these pictures as we go on in
our lesson today…

D. Discussing new concepts Topic:

and practicing new skills The title of our lesson for today is the “EFFECTS OF THE SUN TO
no. 1 HUMAN ACTIVITIES”
(Explore 1)
The Sun
Sun is the main source of heat, warmth and light for almost all organisms
on earth. . It has beneficial effects to us humans; however, it has also
harmful effects to us.

Sun is beneficial to us but it also harmful effects to us.. what are those?
Let us enumerate..

BENEFICIAL AND HARMFUL EFFECT OF SUN

BENEFICIAL

 Children can get vitamin D to maintain strong bones and strengthen

immune system
 Solar energy
 Gives us heat and light
 Dry their laundry during sunny days
 Recreational activities are done by families and friends too on a sunny
day
 Fisherman can dry fishes immediately to preserve them
 Farmers dry their crops on hot warm days
HARMFUL EFFECT
 It can cause sunburn
 The ultra violet rays can damage skin cells too
 Very bright light can also harm our eyes
 Too much sunlight can make the soil very dry, hard and cracked.
 Long sunny days can cause drought resulting to stunted growth of
plants and scarcity of water. (scarcity-shortage)

Showing video clip on the safety precautions against suns’ heat and light
Some ways of protecting ourselves from the excessive sun’s heat and
light
1. Wear a cap or wide brimmed hat during sunny days
2. Carry along an umbrella to protect you from the intense heat of the
sun
3. Wear sunglasses when playing on beaches while the sun is too hot
4. Apply sunscreen lotion which protects your skin from sunburn when
you go for swimming
5. Wear clothes which protect the skin of your hand and feet while
working under the heat of the sun (like gardening, plowing, planting,
harvesting, etc.)
6. Seek out the shade and avoid exposure during hours of peak sunlight

E. Discussing new concepts Group activity

and practicing new skills Find Me
no. 2 Direction: Look at the pictures inside the box and find which activity
(Explore 2) causes harmful and beneficial effect of sun to human.
Effects of the sun

Beneficial Effects Harmful Effects

Complete Me
Direction - Fill in the blanks to complete the paragraph below. Choose the
correct answer inside the box.
animal vision heat vitamin D
light dry beneficial harmful

F. Developing Mastery Individual Activity

(Leads to Formative
Assessment) Note: Practice the safety protocols while doing the activity.
(Explain) Choose the words inside the box if it is a beneficial effect to human
and write it inside the sun.

Vitamin D Good mood

damage immune system

Strong bones healthy body

can dry clothes

G. Finding Practical Group Activity

Application of concepts Setting of Group Activity Rules
and skills in daily living.
(Elaborate) Direction: Each group will be given real life scenario and they will make a
poem, a song, drawing or act out their answer(depends on what was asked
in each scenario.

 Activity card #1 - Group 1

You will help your father in harvesting corn. What should you wear to
protect you from the intense sunlight?
 Activity card #2 - Group 2
You have a family outing to the beach this weekend. What are the
preventive measures you will do?
 Activity card #3 - Group 3
You were walking at your school with your umbrella on a sunny day,
suddenly you saw your classmate with disability (difficulty on walking)
under the heat of the sun without any protection from it, what will you do
to help him.

II.Values Integration
1. What do you realize or feel bout the presence of sun’s heat and
light?
2. Do you appreciate the value of heat and light? Why?
H. Making Generalization Everybody look around outside.. and give one activity/ scenario that the
and abstraction about the sun is beneficial and harmful to us humans.
lesson How can we prevent the harmful effects of the sun’s heat and light?

(the sun is really helpful to us because without it we can’t imagine what life it
would be on earth.)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THERE WERE NO SUN?

During our lesson last 2nd quarter if you can still remember the sun plays a
major role in the process of food chain. Plants makes their own food
through the sun. And we humans, we consume plants and if plants don’t
live, it can cause our death too. Animals also eat plants.
There is no photosynthesis if there were no sun.

I. Evaluating learning Teacher: This time let us see if you really understood our lesson by getting
(Evaluate) your mastery level through this evaluation.
Direction: Write the effects of the sun in each human activity shown in the
picture.

Answer: If we dried fish under the sun we have source of food

Answer:The girl is directly looking at the sun.. what will happen?

Answer:If we dry our clothes outside it prevents bacteria build up and we have
clothes to wear.

Answer:If we dried palay under the sun we will have food to eat.

Answer:Too much exposure from the sun can causes sunburn.

J. Additional activities for Take out photos of activities at home that uses the benefits of sunlight to
application and you and your family.
