Class: VII Section: A & B Subject: Mathematics Period: 2nd & 5th Duration: 50 mins
Date: 2/421 Day: Friday
1. Lesson Topic: Prerequisites for Divisibility Test

2. Lesson Objectives: At the end of the lesson, a child will be able to:

i. Tell the ten digits in the number system from 0 to 9.


ii. Explain the mathematical terms like even, odd, sum, difference, product, quotient,
dividend, divisor, less than, more than, increase, decrease.
iii. Tell the place value of digits of the given number.

3. Strategy to be used: Backward design, question answer, problem solving, pair discussion.

4. TLM to be used: Text book, green board and chalk.

5. Life Skills/Values to be incorporated: sharing of ideas, accepting individual views, confident,


helping others.

6. Important Vocabulary need to learn: odd, even, product, sum, quotient, multiples, factors.

7. LESSON INTRODUCTION: Gaining attention in short (clapping hands, make them to stay
properly). Recapitulate what have been learnt in class VI. Check whether students have the
prerequisite knowledge mentioned in the objectives or not.

8. LESSON DEVELOPMENT:
How many numbers are there in number system? Expected answers are: countless, infinite,
unlimited, we cannot count etc.
How many digits are there in number system? Expected answer: ten (0, 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9).
Even number: a number which can be divided by 2. Eg. 2,4,6,8
Odd number: a number which cannot be divided by 2. Eg. 1,3,5,7,9.
NB: Zero can be divided by any numbers.

Teachers will explain the concepts of sum, difference, product, quotient etc. on the board with
examples.

9. Activity: take down the notes, provide examples every after each concept.

10. Follow up Activity: Revisit to the concepts learnt/explained. Ask few questions like: How many
numbers are there in number system? How many digits are there? What is odd number? Give an
example of even number....etc

11. Home Assignment: Ask them to write notes on the terms explained. Writing multiplication table
from 2 to 12.

12. LESSON CLOSURE: Revise the few important terms learnt in the lesson. Make some weaker
students to tell what he/she understands.
