Lesson Plan No:05

Class: VII Section: A & B Subject: Mathematics Period: 4th & 5th Duration:50mins
Date:12/4/21 Day: Monday

1. Lesson Topic: Divisibility Test

2. Lesson Objectives: At the end of the lesson, a child will be able to draw the base ten block to
show the divisibility test for 3, 4 and 9.

3. Strategy to be used: base tens blocks

4. TLM to be used: Textbook, chalk and chalkboard.
5. Life Skills/Values to be incorporated: drawing skills, arts.
6. Important Vocabulary need to learn: draw, base ten blocks, groups, sum etc.
7. LESSON INTRODUCTION: Recap the concept learned in the previous lesson. Emphasis of the
divisibility rules for 3, 4 and 9.
Gaining attention: Ask them to sit straight by keeping everything on the desk.
8. LESSON DEVELOPMENT:
1. Divisibility test for 3 and 9.
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits is a multiple of 3.
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of the digits is a multiple of 9.
Example: The model for 252 has 2 hundreds, 5 tens and 2 ones.
Each hundred is 1 more than a multiple of 3 and 9(99+1=100)
Each ten is 1 more than the multiple of 3 and 9(9+1=10)

2. Divisible by 4
A number is divisible by 4 if 2 x tens digit + the ones digit is multiple of 4

Example: The model for 252 has 2 hundreds, 5 tens and 2 ones.
-Each ten is 2 more than a multiple of 4 (8+2=10).
-If you divide each ten into groups of 4, then 2 ones are left ovr from each, or 5 x 2 =10 ones are
left over from all 5 tens.
-If you add the 10 left over ones to the 2 ones, there are 10+2=12 ones altogether.
-Since you can divide 12 into groups of 4 , 252 must be divisible by 4.

Activity (2): Ask children to write down few examples of their own and share it to the class. Copy
the notes from the board.

9. Follow up Activity: write few examples on the board and make them to solve individually.

10. Home Assignment: ask them to practice the past questions and from revision.

11. LESSON CLOSURE: Revise the concepts once if the time permits. Check whether the lesson
objectives have been fulfilled or not.
