1. Executive summary

The goal of this project is to get a feel of what it's like to run a business. It's a
learning and free exploration project on entrepreneurship. I have decided to sell
anchovy crispy sambal which is made by myself with my mother. The anchovy sambal
was sold via Whatsapp and Telegram which is more accurate in the college group
because I plan to sell it on campus only as the movement is very limited due to the
current pandemic.

The project lasted for 14 days. The project was starting from 29th November 2021
until the 12th December 2021. Prior to the project period, I had created the anchovy
crispy sambal brand, RAIN Kitchen. RAIN is a combination of my family name and
also the meaning of rain is also rain that brings down sustenance. Alhamdulillah, the
business that I run is well received even though at first I did not plan to do this
business. I suddenly got the idea to make this business because I remembered my
mother’s crispy anchovy sambal then I sell the sambal for RM10 per container. Most
of my customer is my close friend and people who stay in collage.

Overall, throughout running the business I have learned how to do business little
by little. It's not easy to be happy and it's not hard to be difficult, everything has to start
from the bottom. At first I was not sure about this business but the response of many
has convinced me to continue to lean in the business world. Insha Allah, maybe in the
future I can open my own more organized business with this little experience.
2. Project Description (Before Activity)

For this project, I plan to sell crispy anchovy sauce. As the name suggests, among the
main ingredients are anchovies and followed by dried chillies, onions, garlic and
seasonings. I chose to sell this sambal because since I am now in college, this sambal is
very popular among students, especially students who save due to financial constraints.
For that reason, I want to sell this sambal here.

For this sambal, it was made by my own mother (homemade). I decided to sell one
for RM10 because I was selling among students. As for the platform to sell my anchovy
crispy sambal, I decided to use two platforms. The two platforms are the college group
Whatsapp and Telegram. I often promote on Whatsapp and Telegram college groups,
and many friends and people who are in those groups interact with my sales by replying
to them. So, I decided to make full use of my Whatsapp and Telegram because I already
have people. Since I have no business experience, I plan to use on that platform first.

I decided to use the name RAIN Kitchen for my brand because of the meaning of the
word RAIN which I have already told the meaning of before. The selection of brand colors
in each color, type of fonts, and design element to use in some posts, such as graphics
in the branding sheet is very much emphasized to attract customers. Also, the sticker
made should not look crowded because if it is too crowded it will not look neat.
3. Project Outcome (After Activity)

After two weeks of operating the project, the overall outcome of the project was
satisfactory. I think this is mainly because I sell this when people want to save or are
indeed looking for these anchovies. Also, if they want to buy such anise, at the shopee
they are required to pay postage to their place. At the same time, I was relieved to be
able to sell all twenty anchovies crispy sambal and make a profit from the sale.

At first, I thought the project duration should have been longer as it was only 12 days
which made me worried when a lot of stock was left for sale at first. However, my concern
was only concern because the next day many messages came in my notification that they
wanted to buy sambal and I got a profit of RM 97.70. Since I sold one container for RM10,
I got a profit of RM4.89 for each sambal. My sales ran out before the business period
ended and I was so thankful that my sales ran out and a few other people asked about
the sambal but the stock was out.

This project has helped me gain a lot of confidence and improve skills that I was
hesitant to do with people I didn’t know like my communication skills. This project also
gave me the opportunity to create my own brand which I never thought to do let alone
want to create because I am not that skilled at creating a logo. I realized how hard it was
to be an entrepreneur after I did this project, there are a lot of things to go through if you
want to venture into this field. My project was small in scope, but I was on the verge of
giving up. However, it felt really encouraging when I produced a small profit. In conclusion,
I feel relieved with the results and also with the overall preparation of this project because
it gives me experience and creates the feeling of becoming a famous entrepreneur one
day.
4. Experiential Learning

What I learned from this project was that I was able to learn the ins and outs of
business, how to start a business. The results were very encouraging throughout the
project as there were no losses or stocks left after the project period ended. However, I
also face some difficult challenges when doing business. This is because I
underestimated some aspects of this project and I am still learning to start a business.

Among the challenges faced was being the first to get stock because considering
these anchovies were made by my own mother. My mother has another commitment for
which she is a school teacher. Therefore, the time to make sambal is very limited. Plus,
my house is far away and should need delivery here.

The second challenge I faced was that I did not have the confidence to promote what
I was selling. This is because I have no experience in business. So, I was embarrassed
to upload my business status. In addition, I am not good at composing sentences because
with bombastic sentences can also attract customers to buy. So it can be concluded,
promoting well is among the most important things and must have strategic marketing to
thrive in the business world.

In conclusion, I am very happy to have managed to sell all the crispy anchovy sauce
and also the result. Although at first I was not sure but after I saw the results of the sale,
I was very confident to start a new business when I graduate later. Despite all that, I am
proud that I managed to get through this project. Overall, it was indeed a great learning
experience as it made me realize it is not easy to be a successful entrepreneur.
