Equation
Learning Target: To show the effects of changing a, h, and k in the vertex form of a
quadratic equation

A quadratic function in vertex form is given by:

𝒚(𝒙) = 𝒂(𝒙 − 𝒉)𝟐 + 𝒌

where (h,k) are the coordinates of the vertex of the parabola.

Exercise: From the previous activity, you wrote the following quadratic
functions in vertex form.

A) 𝑓 (𝑥) = 4𝑥 2 + 16𝑥 B) 𝑓 (𝑥) = 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 − 8 C) 𝑓 (𝑥) = 𝑥 2 + 2

This time, check what happens to the graphs of the given functions
if you add one (1) to the values of a, h, and k. This means, take the
values of a+1, h+1, and k+1 for each of the functions.
