Course Description:

It is in this course that government made some reforms in the tertiary education specifically the National Service Training Program Act of 2001. The NSTP has three
components. The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), and the Literacy Training Service (LTS) NSTP focuses on Literacy Training Service
which could contribute greatly to the numeracy and literacy programs of the country. This course does not only concern with education inside the classroom but also with the
improvement of the adults in the community.

General objectives:

This course aims of enhancing civic consciousness and defence preparedness in the youth to develop their ethics and skills for general welfare. Hence, through the three
components of this course develops every student to instil patriotism, moral virtues, respect the rights of every citizen and rendered services with in the community.

Specific objectives:

At the end of the course the students will be able to:


 Understand goals, objectives and importance of the National Service Training Program (NSTP)
 Explain the basic premises of the Constitution and its importance to the citizenry.
 Identify the desirable traits of a Filipino that contribute to is development as well as the national development
 Explain the importance of functional literacy and numeracy
 Identify and demonstrate teaching approaches for young and adult learners on numeracy and literacy
