Topic: Inorganic Chemistry (Hydrides)

Lesson Plan
Student: Ashwarya Ashleen Chand School: Vunimono High School

ID Number: S11171989 Subject: Chemistry

Program of study: BSCGCED Lesson duration : 1hr

Associate Teacher: Mrs. Anshul Karthik Class/Form/Year: 13

University Lecturer: Mrs. Makelesi Driu Date: 20/09/22

A brief summary of the lesson:

Hydrides are binary compounds of hydrogen with other elements. This means that hydrides
consist of hydrogen and one other element. Examples include sodium hydride ( NaH ) and
magnesium hydride ( Mg H 2). Hydrogen form compounds with nearly every active element.
Since hydrogen has an intermediate electronegativity, when it forms compounds with a more
electronegative atom, the charge on hydrogen becomes positive. On the other hand, when
hydrogen form compounds with lesser electronegative elements, it has partially negative
charge.
