1. Engage (5 minutes) Video Presentation about Simple Machines ( 2 min.)
Let the pupils watch a video presentation about simple machines. The
teacher will ask follow-up questions about the video

What to do:
Using realia (crowbar, fishing rod, wheelchair, knife, bottle cap and
ramp) put in the corner of the classroom, each group is tasked to get
the examples of simple machines assigned to their group. They will
describe each machine and demonstrate and explain its uses.
Group 1: Lever
Possible Answer:
(Crowbar). A crowbar is a straight rigid bar. It is used in digging
hard soil.
Inclined Plane
Possible Answer:
(Ramp). A ramp is a sloping surface between two places that
are at different levels. It is used as an aid for raising or
lowering a load.
Group 2: Wedge
Possible Answer:
(Knife ). A knife is a sharp blade attached to handle. It is used
for cutting or as a weapon.
Screw
Possible Answer:
(Bottle cap). A bottle cap is a circular piece of plastic. It is used
to close a bottle.
Group 3: Pulley
Possible Answer:
(Fishing rod). A fishing rod is a long, tapering rod to which a
fishing line is attached. It is used by fishermen to
catch fish.
Wheel and Axle
Possible Answer:
(Wheelchair). A wheelchair is a chair fitted with wheels. It is
used as a means of transport by a person who is
unable to walk as a result of illness, injury, or
disability.
3. Explain (10 minutes) Let two representatives of each group report their outputs to the
class.
Process their answers through asking the following questions:
