Activate How can you represent integers by using a number line?


Immerse Present this:

John borrowed P10.00 to pay for his snacks. Virginia borrowed P12.00 to
pay for her snacks. Alex had enough money for lunch and has P5.00 left over.

How can we find among these people who has less money and who has more
money?

Owing money is negative.


Having money is positive.

We will use number line to find who has less money and who has more money.
So, John has “-10”, Virginia has “-12” and Alex has “+5”.

GROUP ACTIVITY (Form 4 groups)


Set the norms that should be followed during the activity. Have each group do this
activity. Solve by using number line.

4 moves from zero to the left then 5 moves to the right
5 moves from zero to the right then 8 moves to the left

1.Rina walked 4 steps forward and 6 steps backward. And then 4 steps
forward. How many steps did Rina make from where she started?

2. A submarine was situated 850 meters below sea level. If it ascends 72


meters, what is its new position?

3. Daniel was at the ground floor when he decided to go to the 7 th floor. From the 7th
floor, he went down 3 floors. In what floor is he now?

 What are the animals found in tropical rainforest, coral reefs and
mangrove swamps?
- Rainforests are populated with insects, arachnids, worms, reptiles,
amphibians and mammals; In the coral reefs are sponges, fishes,
jelly fishes, anemones, sea stars and crustaceans; and in mangrove
swamps are where fishes’ lives and lay eggs; in mangrove swamps
are white ibis, brown pelican, heron, monkeys and turtles / Answers
may vary.
 How can you maintain the number of animals in the specific area?
- By protecting and conserving them / Answers may vary
 As a learner, how can you able to protect and conserve these
animals?
- As a student, I will never destroy their home and I will never kill
them for the sake of our living in order to maintain their habitat and
made them survive for a long time.

 Group the learners into four. Each group will perform two activities.
 Remind the learners about the norms to be followed in doing the activity.
 Do not eat or drink during activity.
 Keep your workplace clean.
 Cooperate with your groupmates.
 Seek the guidance of the teacher whenever in trouble.
 Minimize your noise.
 Submit your output on time.
 Wash your hands after the activity.
Part B (Slogan Making)

 Make a slogan illustrating ways how to protect and conserve Tropical rainforest,
coral reefs and mangrove swamps.
 The scoring rubric will be used in rating the presentation of the slogan of each
group. (See attached scoring rubric – Appendix B)
 Answer the guide questions.

Guide Questions:
 What are the ways on how to protect and conserve the following:

- Plant trees
- Don’t hurt the environment
- Don’t throw garbages
- Established parks to protect rainforests and wildlife
- Support companies that operate ways that minimize damage to the environment
Coral Reefs
- Avoid illegal fishing and destroying coral reefs
- Don’t fish or boat near a coral reef
- Don’t throw garbages in the sea
- Avoid oil spills
- Plant trees
- Don’t purchase corals for souvenirs Mangrove Swamps
- Plant more mangrove trees
- Don’t throw garbages near the mangrove swamps
- Don’t cut down mangrove trees

 A representative from each group will present their answers in the guide questions
of the group output. The scoring rubric will be used in rating the presentation of
each group. (See attached scoring rubric – Appendix C)

 Process the output of each group.


Ask the following questions:
1. Suppose you are designated in your municipality as a protector of a Tropical
rainforest, coral reefs and mangrove swamp, what will you do to protect and
conserve it?
- As a municipality designated protector, I will encourage people living in my
municipality to plant more tress, putting up projects like
establishing signages that can give signals to the people to protect these habitats and
I will not let the people to destroy these habitats Answers may vary

2. What will happen to the animals and plants if the Tropical rainforest, coral reefs
and mangrove swamp where they are living are not protected and conserved
properly?
- Animals living on these different habitats will die. The ecosystem will not be
balanced. It can also result to the sickness of the people that will lead to death /
Answers may vary

Synthesize Why do we need to protect mangroves?


Evaluate Direction: Give ways on how to protect and conserve tropical
rainforest, coral reefs and mangrove swamp. Provide three
ways on each habitat.

Mga tanong sa pagtalakay


1. Tungkol saan ang binasa?
2. Paano isinulat ang simula?
3. Ano ang mga nakasaad sa gitnang bahagi ng sulatin?
4. Paano tinapos ang sulatin?
5. Anong mga salita ang ginamit sa pagwawakas ng sulatin?

Sabihin: Ang balita ay isang halimbawa ng sulating pormal. Sa sulating pormal


ang paksa ay may kalaliman. Pinag-uukulan ito ng panahon para sa
pagsasaliksik upang mapanaligan ang inilalahad na kaisipan. Pili at pormal ang
mga salitang ginagamit. Isinasaalang-alang sa paggawa ng isang sulating
pormal ang mga sumusunod:
1. Paggamit ng salitang nasa ikatlong panauhan ---- Iniiwasan ang paggamit ng
ako at ikaw upang hindi lumabas na personal ang sulatin.
2. Pag-iwas sa paggamit ng pagdadaglat at pinaikling salita ---- Isinusulat nang
buo ang mga salita.
3. Pag-iwas sa paggamit ng salitang palasak.
Halimbawa: datung – pera
Wis ko type – hindi ko gusto

Muling babalikan ang siniping balita at ipasusuri ang mga impormasyong


nakapaloob sa bawat bahagi nito.
(Talakayin ang mga bahagi ng sulating pormal; Simula, gitna, katapusan at
kung paano ito isinusulat sa patnubay ng ginawang balangkas)

Magbibigay ng isa pang halimbawa ng sulating pormal. Ipasuri ito gamit ang
balangkas na tanong.
1. Paano sinimulan ang sulatin?
2. Ano ang nakalahad sa gitnang bahagi?
3. Paano binigyan ng wakas ang sulatin?

In using these various sources of information, comparing and


contrasting are
necessary to ensure reliable and credible sources of information. In
accessing online
materials take note to be careful with the authorship, credibility and
authenticity of
internet documents since some sources may contain unverified
information.
Compare and Contrast is a text structure or pattern of organization
where the
similarities and differences of two or more things are
explored.

The following are the steps in comparing and contrasting content:


1. Ensure you have access to sources of information.
2. Verify the source of information.
3. List down important idea from each source.
4. Use the Venn diagram to compare and contrast details written. Venn
Diagram is a graphic organizer used to compare and contrast information.
