‫في الترم االول عرفت اني باخد حاجة اسمها ال ‪Impression‬لالسنان الي انا عملت لها ‪prepared‬‬
‫ألن ال ‪Impression‬وظيفته أنه يوصل للمعمل صورة ‪ preparation‬والشكل بتاع األسنان وال ‪ arch‬بكل تفاصيله‬
‫فاول ما المعمل يستلم ال )‪ Impression( negative replica‬يعني صورة األسنان بالمعكوس‬
‫يبدأ يخلق منها حاجة اسمها ) ‪ cast ( positive replica‬نسخة تبكل لالسنان بوضعها الصح‬
‫فالكاست الي هيعمله اسمه ‪working cast‬‬
‫ف انا كدا بيكون عندي اتنين كاست االول بيكون ‪ study cast‬ودا بيتعمل من ال ‪primary Impression‬الي انا باخده‬
‫للبيشنت اول مره قبل ما اعمل ‪ preparation‬للسنة وطبعا الكاست دا بعمله عشان عشان يكون عندي نسخه من الحالة أو‬
‫هاخد راي دكتور مثال في الحالة وهكذا فطالما مش هشتغل عليه يبقا ميخصنيش أن يكون ‪ accurate‬فممكن استخدم ال‬
‫‪ Alginte‬عادي رخيص وسهل وهيعمل لي نسخه‬
‫اما الكاست التاني هو ال ‪ working cast‬الي هو ال ‪ master cast‬الي انا بعمله لما اخد ‪secondary‬‬
‫‪ impression‬هو دا الي بشتغل عليه من اسمه فبالتالي محتاجه أن يكون ‪ accurate‬فعشان كدا ممنوع استعمل ‪Alginte‬‬
‫دا احنا عاملين ‪ prepared‬يعني في ‪ finish line 0.5 or 0.3‬ف الزم تكون مطلعه لي كل حاجة بمنتهي الدقه فبستعمل‬
‫مواد تانية هنعرفها أثناء المحاضرة‬

‫‪Working cast‬‬
‫‪is the positive replica of the prepared teeth, ridge areas, and the other parts of the dental‬‬
‫‪arch. - The accuracy of a cast and die is a function of completeness and accuracy of the‬‬
‫‪impression.‬‬
‫‪Die‬‬
‫‪Positive reproduction of the prepared tooth and consists of a suitable hard substance of‬‬
‫) ‪sufficient accuracy ( usually an improved stone , resin or metal‬‬
‫اما بقا ال ألسنان نفسها الي انا عملت لها ‪prepared‬سوا واحده او اكتر هيكون اسمها ‪ die‬وهي دي الي ‪wax pattern‬‬
‫ويدخلها في ال ‪casting machine‬وبيسيح ال ‪wax‬ويدخل مكانه ‪metal‬عشان يطلع لي ال ‪crown or inlay or onlay‬‬
‫الي انا عاوز اعمله في االخر يلزمني أن ال ‪die‬تكون ‪removable‬عشان لما اجي اعمل عليها ال ‪wax pattern‬يبقا‬
‫سهل تحركها وتظبط ال ‪margin‬كويس‬

‫طيب عشان اطلع كاست حكاية اي الي الزم يكون متوفر فيه ؟ ) ‪There are requirements for good casts‬‬
 ) ‫عشان يطلع كراون مظبوط في النهاية‬cast ‫)في شوية متطلبات المفروض تتحق في ال‬
‫بتقولي ازاي هتفيدني بايه مش انا ممكن اعمل‬Edentulous area ‫ لكل حاجة زي ال ال‬stable dimension ‫الزم تكون‬
‫ فالزم يكون موضحها لي كويس بكل تفاصيلها وكمان ال‬pontic ‫وال‬retainer ‫بينها وبين ال‬relation ‫وفي‬bridge
‫عشان أنا هحط الكاست دا بعد كدا علي ارتكيولتور فالزم اكون‬occlusal ‫ل‬stable ‫طبعا و كمان‬prepared tooth
‫كويس‬dimensions ‫ظابطه ال‬
–It must reproduce both prepared and unprepared tooth
‫الزم بديني صورة دقيقة من األسنان الي انا حضرتها أو الي االسنان الي في الفم كلها‬
–Unprepared teeth adjacent and opposing to the preparation must be free of avoid
crown‫ خاليه من اي مشاكل الن عشان ابني الجزء الخاص بال‬adjacent and opposing ‫وكمان الزم تكون األسنان الي‬
‫عشان يعمل‬occlusion ‫ وكمان ال‬Contact area ‫ عشان يظبط ال‬neighboring tooth and opposing ‫محتاج‬
‫صح‬build up
–surface of teeth involved in anterior guidance and the occlusal surfaces of all unprepared teeth
must allow for precise articulation of the opposing cast

‫ و ميبقاش فيه اي‬accurate ‫ فالزم تكون‬anterior teeth ‫ من ال‬occlusion ‫الزم الجزء الي داخل في ال‬
‫عموما‬occlusion ‫ لي في ال‬guide ‫ هو ال‬anterior teeth ‫ بتاع ال‬occlusion ‫ ودا عشان ال‬fracture
‫ صح وبالتالي هياثر لي‬articulation ‫ فمش هعرف هعمل‬occlusion ‫ف لو في اي مشكلة فهيأثر علي ال‬
‫علي كل الخطوات بعد كدا‬
–All relevant soft tissues should be reproduced in the working cast ( Edentulous
spaces and residual ridge contours that will be involved in the fixed Prothesis )
‫ بالنسبة لي والمعمل‬guide ‫ هو ال‬prepared tooth ‫ الي حوالين ال‬soft tissue ‫المفروض أن كل ال‬
‫ ميكنش نازل وضاغط علي ال‬over contour ‫ ميبقاش‬margin ‫ عشان ال‬crown ‫ ل‬build up ‫بيعمل‬
‫ موجود‬soft tissue ‫ فعشان كدا الزم يكون ال‬gingiva

Requirements of Die ‫طب ال‬

‫بعد كدا‬crown ‫الي هيتعمل عليه ال‬wax pattern ‫هو اهم حاجة ألن هو الي هيتبني عليه ال‬
‫طب اي المتطلبات الي الزم تكون متوفره فيه ؟؟؟؟‬
—It must reproduce the prepared tooth exactly
‫ والشكل وكل حاجة‬size ‫ من ناحية ال‬reproduce exactly ‫الزم يكون‬
‫‪–All surfaces must be accurately. Duplicated and no bubbles or voids can be‬‬
‫‪accepted‬‬
‫ميبقاش في اي مشاكل وتكون خالية من ال ‪ bubbles or voids‬وكل ال ‪ surface‬تكون ‪accurate‬‬
‫طبعا‬
‫‪The unprepared tooth structure cervical to the finish line‬‬ ‫‪should be easily‬‬
‫)‪discernible on the die ( 0.5 – 1mm‬‬
‫ال ‪ prepared tooth‬وفي آخرها ف‪ finish line‬وبعدين تحته الجزء الباقي من السنة‬
‫الزم يكون واضح من نص ل واحد ملي تحت ال ‪ finish line‬في ال ‪ Impression‬بتاعي ألن هيكون ال‬
‫‪ guide‬بتاعي وانا بعمل ال ‪ contour‬بتاع السنة بعد كدا عشان ال ‪ thickness‬بتاعي ميكنش اكبر من الجزء‬
‫ال ‪ unprepared‬من السنة ( لو مفهمتش ) مش واحنا بنعمل ‪finish line‬بنقف علي ‪step‬كدا طيب لو‬
‫مكنش في عندي جزء تحت ال ‪ finish line‬هقف علي ايه يبقا كل الي يقصده أن ال ‪die‬تشمل ال جزء ال‬
‫انا عامله له ‪prepared‬من السنة وجزء من ‪ 0.5‬ل ‪ 1‬ملئ عشان استند عليه‬
‫‪Adequate access to the margin is imperative‬‬
‫‪ die‬طب اي المواد الي انا هعمل منها ال ‪Die material‬‬
‫هنتكلم عن الماتلاير الي انا بستخدمها عشان اصنع منها ال ‪ die‬زي ما عرفنا أن ال ‪die‬بيتميز أن ‪movable‬‬
‫يعني ممكن اشيله من الكائن أو احطه للكاست في بعض المواد تنفع اعمل منها ‪die‬وكمان اعمل منها ال‬
‫‪cast‬وفي بعض المواد مينفعش اعمل منها غير ال ‪die‬فقط‬
‫‪Requirements. Of die Materials‬‬
‫المفروض المادة الي هنستخدمها عشان أصنع منها ال ‪ die‬يكون ليها بعض الصفات‬
‫‪–Should have high strength to withstand handling without being fractured or‬‬
‫‪destroyed.‬‬
‫‪ fracture‬انا عاوزه حاجة‬ ‫الزم يكون ال ‪ strength‬بتاعها عالي وتتحمل كل حاجة بدون ما يحصل لها‬
‫تستحمل اطلعها وادخلها تكون جامده معايا‬
‫‪–Should have surface hardness to resist scratching and abrasion while the wax‬‬
‫‪pattern is being formed.‬‬
‫الزم يكون ال ‪ surface‬بتاعها يكون هارد لو انا مسكت كارفر وعديت بيه علي ال ‪ surface‬بيقاوم ال‬
‫‪ scratch‬ميتخربش من اي حاجة‬
–Should have excellent dimensional accuracy.
‫ هيأثر علي ال‬expansion or shrinkage ‫الزم يكون دقيق في االبعاد ألن لو حصل أي تغير سوا‬
‫ الي عندي‬details ‫ طبعا بتاعة الكراون بعد كدا وانا كل هدفي احافظ علي دقة وال‬accuracy
‫اكتر حاجة تهمني ألن دا الي هيحافظ علي كل حاجة عملتها في السنة‬
–Should be compatible with the impression materials.
‫ مع مادة االمبرشن عشان ميحصلش اي تغير عندي بعد كدا باخد بالي من‬compatible ‫وكمان الزم يكون‬
die ‫الخاصية دي جدا فيلزمني اعرف المادة الي اخدت بيها امبرشن عشان احدد اي مادة هعمل بيها ال‬
–Should have good color contrast with other materials so the preparation margins
can be easily detected.
‫ الي انا هستخدمه عشان اعرف اميز‬wax pattern ‫ مع ال‬good colar contrast ‫مهم عندي يكون في‬
‫كل حاجة‬
–Should be compatible with the separating medium that may be used.
stone ‫ ممكن لما اجي اطلع يكون ماسك في ال‬die ‫ علي ال‬buliding wax pattern‫لما باجي اعمل ال‬
separating medium ‫ف يبوظ مني عشان كدا بحط‬
‫ معاه‬compatible ‫ تكون عاملة‬die ‫ الزم مادة ال‬separating medium ‫فلكون وجود ال‬
‫عشان اقدر اشيلها‬die spacer ‫ معناه متعايشين مع بعض مش بيأثروا علي بعض ) بحط‬compatible ‫( لفظ‬
fracture ‫واحركها بدون ما يحصل‬
Materials available for construction of die can be classified into:
1. Stone (Gypsum) die. Compatible with all types of Impression
2. Amalgam die.
3. Acrylic or epoxy die. Stone with Acrylic

4 Refractory die (ceramic die). ‫اني يستعمل ال‬ceramic
5. Electroplated die ( Silver plated , Copper plated) ‫طبقه بتترسب‬
6-Flexible die.

1) GYPSUM ( Die stone )
Impression ‫ مع كل انواع ال‬compatibility ‫الوحيد ال‬
Gypsum products are available in 5 forms:
Type 1: Impression plaster. ) ‫كان زمان يستخدمه اخد منه امبرشن‬
Type II: Model plaster.
missing ‫عشان ابدأ ادرس الحالة وأوضح اي األجزاء الي‬study cast ‫كنت استخدمه أن اعمل بيه ال‬

type III ‫هتكون ابتدأ من‬die ‫📌 اما األنواع الي انا هستخدمها أن اعمل بيها ال‬
Type III dental stone
Type IV: High-strength dental stone.
Type V: High-strength high-expansion stone. ‫دا النوع الي يهمني‬

The physical properties of die stone are improved over those of dental stone because less
water is needed to obtain a sufficiently fluid mix.
‫ يستخدم النسب دي مهم اني اعرفها ولكن ممكن تختلف تبعا لكل شركة‬stone ‫لل‬mix ‫عشان اعمل‬
100 g of plaster requires 45 to 50 mL of water,
100g of dental stone requires 3o to 35 ml of water
100 g of die stone requires 20-25 ml.of water, depending on the particular Brand.

Reaction of Gypsum )( ‫الدكتور مشرحهاش ولكن اعتمد اننا واخدنها ماتلاير‬

Gypsum setting reaction is due to the hydration of calcium sulfate Hemihydrate:
CaSO4 ½ H2O + 1½ H2O CaSO4, H2O.
The hemihydrate is manufactured by heating the dihydrate un-Der controlled conditions to
drive off some water of crystallization (a process called as calcination).
The differences in various types of Gypsums are attributed to calcination.
Surface detail reproduction is acceptable with type IV and type V gypsum products. These
materials are capable of reproducing a 20 µm wide line
Mixing
Hand mixing of gypsum is easy, but results are better when the Mixing is done mechanically in
vacuum. Porosity is reduced with A concomitant increase in strength, after only 15 seconds of
mechanical mixing. Ideally a 30 minutes of setting time is required for Better results.

‫ عشان كدا الزم أخرجها‬accuracy ‫ ودي طبعا هتاثر علي ال‬mix ‫ موجوده جوا ال‬air bubbles ‫ ولكن بيكون في‬manually
air bubbles ‫ واطلع بيه ال‬vibrating ‫فبستخدم جهاز اسمه‬
vacuum mixing ‫عن طريق‬mix ‫أو الطريقة التانية اعمل ال‬
powder ‫ وال‬stone ‫جهاز بحط فيه ال‬
air bubbles ‫ تطلع ال‬tubes ‫ وبنركب عليها حاجة زي‬powder ‫ وال‬stone ‫ كدا بحط فيها ال‬plastic boil ‫فبركب‬
‫الي جواها‬
high accuracy ‫ بيطلع‬mix ‫وال‬
Advantages of Gypsums
– Reasonable Dimensional accuracy
– Good surface details reproduction with type IV , Type V Gypsum products
– Inexpensive
– Easy for use
greatest disadvantage
‫ ولكن حل المشكلة دي بإضافة بعض المواد عشان تزود ال‬abrasion ‫ل‬poor resistance ‫مشكلته الوحيده هو أن عنده‬
colloidal silica(Gypsum Hardeners) ‫زي ال‬hardness and abrasion resistance
cyanoacrylate ‫ زي‬low viscosity resin ‫وكمان ممكن اضيف‬
is its relatively poor resistance To abrasion. Attempts to increase surface hardness and abrasion
Resistance have included the use of so called ‘gypsum hardeners’ (colloidal silica) improves the
abrasion resistance. Another method Is by impregnating the surface of the die with a low
viscosity resin
Cyanoacrylate or epoxy resins etc. A solution of 10% polystyrene
stone ‫ويستخدمه عشان يطلع لي ال‬Gypsum ‫علي ال‬resin ‫ وهو اني اضيف ال‬resinrock ‫وفي نوع تاني اسمه‬
‫عالية‬resistance abrasion ‫بتاعي كويس وكمان عنده‬hardness ‫بتاعي ال‬
Amalgam dies :
– These dies are made in impressions made With impression compound in the copper band
procedure.
‫ ؟ تعرف ليه ؟؟ ألن االملجم وانا بعمله‬amalgam ‫مينفعش اصبه بال‬rubber base ‫الي انا باخده بال‬Impression ‫ال‬
rubber ‫علي حاجة‬condensation ‫فمينفعش اعمل‬condenser ‫باستخدام ال‬condensation ‫بيعمد علي ال‬
Impression ‫عشان اخد ال‬compound ‫فعشان كدا بستخدم في الحالة دي ال‬
‫ ألن هيمسك في األسنان ومش هيطلع ف انا باخد امبرشن‬compound ‫ لكل االسنان بال‬Impression ‫كمان مينفعش اخد‬
undercut ‫ بس وشرطها كمان أن تكون االسنان دي خالية من أي‬prepared ‫لالسنان ال‬
‫ يرجع سوفت تاني عشان ميكسرش السنة‬Impression ‫الحل لو االمبرشن مسك علي السنة اني احط ماء دافئ وهيخلي ال‬
single tooth ‫ودي بيتستخدم بس لو عندي‬copper ring ‫الي عبجيب حاجة زي ال‬
condensation ‫ اقدر اعمل‬mix ‫ فبالتالي بعد ما اعمل‬very hard ‫ وطبعا بيكون‬compound ‫بدأ اخد امبرشن طبعا بال‬
preparation tooth ‫فبالتالي يطلع يديني شكل ال‬
‫ الي‬details ‫ بيتشكل بالضغط بتاعي وبيأثر علي ال‬condensation ‫ فلما اجي اعمل‬rubber base ‫اما لو استخدمت ال‬
‫ بالنسبه لنا‬accurate ‫انا محتاجاها تكون‬
Advantages
• Produces a hard die
• Adequate reproduction of fine details and sharp margins.
hard ‫بتاخد مواصفات دقيقة وكمان هي‬
Disadvantages
Expansion so its dimensions not accurate
• Can only be picked into a rigid impression
• Time consuming process
• High thermal conductivity can cool a wax pattern. This can be Overcome by warming the
die.

Resin dies

Has two type E.g. epoxy resin dies, polyurethane dies.

‫حجمها اقل‬

Resin materials have Also been used for fabrication of dies for the preparation of inlays,
Crowns, fixed partial dentures using the indirect technique. These Materials show good
properties of strength, hardness, abrasion,

Resistance though with slight shrinkage occurring during poly-Merisation.

Advantages

1. Better strength and abrasion resistance than high strength Stone dies.
Not need expansive equipment
2. Dimensionally stable and can be cured at room temperature.
3. Ideal material for reproducing details can reproduce groove Depth up to 20 µm.

Disadvantages
–More Expansive than Gypsum
–shrinkage
Undergoes shrinkage during polymerisation which is approxi-Mately the same as
expansion with stone dies. Hence, prosthesis
layer by later ‫دا اني بحطه‬shrinkage ‫بنتغلب علي ال‬

Refractory Die ( ceramic)

Refractory cast trimmed with stone base
refractory ‫ باخد من الكاست امبرشن واعمل عليه‬working cast ‫ وبعد ما اخد واعمل بيه‬Impression ‫باخد ال‬
‫ألن وظيفته أنه ينفع يدخل الفرن بتاع ال بورسلين النه بيتسحمل درجة الحرارة العالية‬
‫ مش هيستحمل درجة الحرارة العالية الي بورسلين محتاجها وهيعمل لي مشاكل كتير اوي‬stone ‫اما ال‬
ELECTROPLATED DIES
Using electric current to deposit a coat of pure dissolved silver or copper on the surface
of impression.

‫ أو‬silver ‫طريقة صعبه أن حد يعملها والي بعتمد فيها علي الترسيب الكهربي ( الكاثود واالنود) اني احط في جهة ال‬
copper ‫ وال‬silver ‫ مادة تجذب ال‬prepared ‫ وبدهن علي ال جزء ال‬cast ‫ والعمود التاني بيكون ال‬copper ‫ال‬
Bink wax ‫وكمان ب غطي االسنان الي مش عاوزه يترسب عليها ب‬
‫ ألن بيدوم فترة طويلة جدا مبيتاثرش وطبعا وطبعا بيستغرق‬research ‫وطبعا دا غالب بيستخدم غالبا ألغراض ال‬
‫وقت طويل عشان اعمله‬
Advantages
1. Dimensionally stable.
2. Strong.
4. Can be saved for many years.
Disadvantages
Time consuming nearly 12 hour
Performed slowly

Not all impression materiais are suitable for plating

★Silicone Impression . Are difficult to electroplate evenly Because of their low surface energies.

★Polyethers imp can not be plated, because of their

Hydrophilic nature, imbibe water and become Distorted.
★Polysulfide imp. Can be silver plated, but it is much more difficult to copper plate them.
Poisoning effect Silver plating uses cyanide solution toxic

FLEXIBLE DIE MATERIALS

Similar to heavy-bodied silicone or polyether impression materials.

Used to make provisional restorations or indirect composite resin inlays or onlays.
Use:
To make provisional restoration.

Advantage: More rapid setting 10min. ، Ease of removal of provisional restoration
