My Daily Student Journal

GLOBALIZATION FOR LIFE

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s
economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and
services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information according to the Peterson
Institute for International Economics.

Globalization has an important role in changing people's lives around the world,
especially in their way of living. As a student, a person, and a member of society, globalization
had a great impact on my day-to-day life. it can affect me whether negatively or positively.

As a social and cultural phenomenon, globalization affected me in almost all different

means and aspects of life, especially in the means of communication. Technology Innovation
caused by Globalization enables us to interact with a larger group of people using our gadgets,
communication is much more advanced than in the past centuries or decades, it is much easier,
and time-saving rather than the traditional ways of communication such as sending letters.
Advancement in communication enables me to send and receive information from a distant
location in real-time while I'm in the comfort of my home, all you need to have is a stable
internet connection and gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops, etc. Through globalization,
communicating at Distance is not a barrier.

The dangerous downside of Globalization is the spreading of false information, as it is

easier to access information some information is hard to recognize if it is a fact or false and only
a few people care about the importance of credible sources, as a result, many people easily trust
false information leading to misinformation, ignorance and worst it can turn the world into chaos.

Through Globalization, it enables me to be aware of what's happening around the world,

again, it is because of the advancement of technologies, receiving news or information from
other countries nowadays is easy and fast compared to the past centuries, it is important for us
to be updated in different global issues in order for us to gain relevant knowledge and ideas
regarding cultural, political, ethical, economic, social, and environmental issues revolving around
the world. The best example of the global issues I have always seen in social media and news is
the tension between Russia and Ukraine and its effect around the world, the horrors of the
Covid-19 pandemic, and the danger of the calamity crisis especially Global warming.

In terms of buying products, I can order any product anywhere around the world through
online shopping platforms such as shopee and lazada at an affordable price and delivered it in
front of my doorstep, I don’t need to go to the malls and shops like traditional shopping. One of
the advantages of online shopping is the lower price of the product it is because globalization let
the product manufacturers manufacture their goods in-low cost ways by the means of high
technologies and advanced machines and equipment they invested. As a person who lived in the
Philippines, a developing country, it is very fundamental to buy an affordable product because It
enables me to spend less money and buy more affordable items.

As globalization positively or negatively affect our lives, as a person who lives under the
influence of globalization, all we need to do is we should take advantage of the advancement of
technologies and use it to enhance our skills and talents to become a productive member of
society.
