The modernization and expansion of the transmission network in Albania is a continuous objective. Within the context of a German Financial Cooperation with Albania and the Energy Efficiency Sector Program - Electricity Transmission, the Operatori I Sistemit të Transmetimit (OST sh.a) will use funds provided by KfW towards financing the implementation of the project Double Circuit OHL Tirana 2 - Rrashbull and 110 kV Tirana Ring.
The objective of the project is to increase the transmission capacity in
Albania - in particular in the urban hinterland of Tirana and Rrashbull - and to enhance the security and quality of energy supplies in the Albanian transmission system. The project will ensure the redundancy (n-1 criteria) of the transmission system Tirana Ring, the Tirana region, Rrashbull and Fier in the future. By this, the security of energy supply will be enhanced and the vulnerability during extreme weather conditions will be reduced.
Under the overall project, two components are foreseen to be implemented,
the overhead transmission line Tirana 2 - Rrashbull and the 110 kV Tirana Ring.
The Project life time shall be 40 years.
The above mentioned components will be addressed in two (2) different
lots, as explained in the following paragraphs. The present Project regards Lot 1 - Substations. The transmission lines- related parts are within the scope of Lot 2, potentially tendered and constructed in parallel.
2.1.1 Lot 1 - Substations
New 400/110/20 kV Tirana 3 substation • 400 kV switchyard • 110 kV switchyard • two (2) 400/110/20 kV 150 MVA power transformers • MV and LV cabling • Civil works including substation building • MV switchgear and AC/DC auxiliaries • SCMS, telecommunication, control and protection, metering systems • earthing and lightning protection systems • small power and lighting systems.
