I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Define the meaning of preventive maintenance;
b. Perform different scenarios of doing preventive maintenance through the
activity "Paint Me a Picture”;
c. Share ideas about the importance of performing preventive maintenance
through the "Think Pair Share" activity.

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of basic concepts, underlying theories
and principles in using farm tools and equipment in horticulture.

B. Performance The learner uses farm tools and equipment in horticulture based on the
Standards required task.

B. Mood Setting/ Activity 1: What’s in the balloon?
Motivation Description: The names of the students will be listed on the color wheel. The
(5 minutes) chosen student will choose one of the balloons, and he will be the one to
answer the question inside the balloon.

Guide questions:

1. Give me an example of at least three hand tools.

2. Mr. Tulio's hand tools and farm equipment are so messy and can be
found everywhere because he has no proper storage. What does Mr.
Tulio need?
3. Mr. Salcina has accidentally cut his hand, leading to a serious injury, for
he didn't know that his bolo's handle is broken. What does Mr. Salcina
forget to do before using the bolo?

D. Discussing New Activity 2: Think Pair Share

F. Finding Practical Activity 3: Paint Me A Picture
Applications of
Concepts and Skills Direction: The class will be divided into five groups. The teacher will present a
certain situation. Using only their bodies and personal effects, the group
in Daily Living
illustrates the scene. At a given signal, everyone freezes. The group with the

most creative or realistic posts will receive the most points.

IV. Evaluation Activity 4: Fishbone Diagram
(13 minutes)
Direction: On a half sheet of paper, create a fishbone diagram showing the
advantages of performing preventive maintenance and the disadvantages of not
doing so. Refer to the format below.

V. Assignment/Agreement Study in advance your next topic, which is how to clean your garden tools,
which can be found on pages 7–12 in your learning module.
