I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. describe the general types of intermolecular forces
2. differentiate their characteristics from each other
3. identify the types of IMFA using a flow chart

Processes
E. Science a. Intermolecular Forces of Attraction – forces of attraction
Concepts that exist between particles of substances.
b. Dipole-Dipole Forces – it exists between polar molecules.
These are short-ranged forces that exist between molecules
that are very near to each other.
c. Hydrogen Bonds – it is a special type of dipole-dipole
interaction that exists only in molecules that contains a
hydrogen atom bonded to a small, highly electronegative
atom such as nitrogen, oxygen, or fluorine.
d. Ion-Dipole Forces – it acts between an ion (either positive or
negative) and a polar molecule.
e. London Dispersion Forces – are intermolecular forces of
attraction that exist between all atoms and molecules.
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary
Activities
1. Greetings The teacher will welcome ang greet the students.
2. Prayers The teacher will choose a student to lead the opening prayer.
3. Setting The teacher will present the things that should be considered if the
Classroom class is going on. The virtual classroom rules will be introduced to
Rules the students.
III. The teacher will use a flow chart to easily identify the
types of IMFA

ANSWERS:
F. Generalization The teacher will ask questions to know if the students understand the
lesson.
Which type has the strongest and weakest attraction among the
four?
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will give a 10-item multiple choice test to assess the
learning of the students.
4. What are the two IMFA that is also called as van der Waals
forces?
a. Ion-dipole & dipole-dipole
b. Dipole-dipole & hydrogen bond
c. London dispersion force & dipole-dipole
d. Ion-dipole & hydrogen bond
