Lesson idea implementation: At the beginning of the lesson I will grasp the student’s
attention the mat to make sure all the students are on task before starting the lesson. once all
my students have their active listening ears on, I will ask them the essential question” why is it
important to respect your peer’s ethnicity in the classroom. Once open questions ended, I will
then read the eBook “ All kinds of friends by Shelia M. Kelley. next, I will ask the students if
anybody has used any Microsoft tools before , before I introduce Excel to them. I will teach
them the basic tools they need to understand Excel to execute the lesson properly. I will then
let the students walk around the classroom to mingle with their peers to talk about their
heritage and their family traditions to properly placed their classmates in the right category.
After they gathered their data, I will let the students know that their goal for this assessment is
to complete the assigned graph properly in excel. i will walk around to make sure the students
are on the right track and to make sure they are getting that refresher they need about excel if
they need help. During this activity, The students are engaging with the lesson on
understanding the basics of the productivity tool excel and diversity while taking action to
collect their data for their graphs. The students will then represent their data to me to make
sure they properly know how to complete the assigned lesson.
Managing the technology/engagement:

Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students actively involved in
authentic tasks and contexts?
The basic productivity tool that I chose will get the students actively involved in authentic
tasks and contexts by using excel beyond just activities in the classroom. Excel can be used for
numerous things besides in the classroom.

How will you manage the classroom behaviors on the technology:


As the students are using excel, I will walk around the classroom to make sure the students are
staying on track during the activity. The students are not allowed to go on any other websites
or programs other than excel.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): the learning tool that I use to enhance my students
learning is Excel. Excel will help the students learn the basics of learning how to create graphs
while learning about their peers diversity. Microsoft Excel supports all three components of
the UDL framework. The students are engaging with the lesson on understanding the basics of
the productivity tool excel and diversity while taking action to collect their data for their
graphs. The students will then represent their data to me to make sure they properly know how

to complete the assigned lesson.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:


The activities that I created will impact my student`s learning by teaching them the basics to
build graphs on Excel and learn their peer’s ethnicity. I look forward to my students learning
about their peers during the activity.
