WEEK 1

Panuto: Basahin at unawain ang bawat pahayag. Isulat sa patlang ang LUSOG-
BUSOG kung ito ay nagpapahayayag ng pagpapahalaga sa sariling kalusugan bilang
handog ng Diyos, at BUTO’T BALAT naman kung hindi.
Panuto: Basahing mabuti ang bawat pahayag. Pagkatapos, punan ng wastong sagot
ang bawat puwang.
“Alam Ko Na!”
Noon, madalas akong kumain ng fries at uminom ng soft drinks tuwing recess. Sa pananghalian,
pritong manok o kaya’y sinigang na baboy lamang ang gusto kong kainin. Ayaw na ayaw kong
makakita ng ampalaya, kalabasa, kangkong, o anumang gulay. Mas nanaisin ko pang kumain ng
tsokolate mula sa refrigerator kaysa kumain ng saging o atis. Madalas ay nanonood lamang ako ng
telebisyon o naglalaro ng computer games.Mahilig din akong magbabad sa harap ng laptop at mag-
upload ng selfie pictures sa facebook o makipag-text sa mga kaibigan. Madalas, puyat, pero ayos
lang sa akin, ikinatutuwa at masaya naman ako sa ginagawa ko. Ilang panahon ang lumipas,
napansin ko na bumibigat ang aking timbang. Ako’y nagtataka. Bakit ako nanghihina gayong malakas
naman akong kumain? Bakit madalas sumasakit ang aking mga mata? Parang kinakailangan ko
nang gumamit ng salamin dahil lumalabo na ang aking paningin. Madalas ay nagkakasakit ako.
Laging bugnutin at umikli ang aking pasensya. Ang aking mga kaibigan, kamag-aral at pamilya ay
napansin ang pagbabago ng aking ugali. Dahil sa mga pagbabagong ito ay bumaba ang aking grado.
Iniiwasan din ako ng aking mga kamag-aral at kaibigan dahil Madali akong mapikon sa mga biro na
naging sanhi ng aking pagiging bugnutin. Naninibago ako sa mga nangyari. Napagtanto kong hindi ito
ang gusto ko. Hindi rin ito ang pinangarap ko. Tandang-tanda ko pa ang pangaral ni Inay at Itay.”
Anak, ingatan mo ang iyong sarili. Handog ito sa iyo ng Diyos.Ang bawat handog ng Diyos ay may
kaakibat na pananagutan.” “Tama si Inay at si Itay”, wika ko sa aking sarili.

THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF

There was once a young Shepherd Boy who tended his sheep at the foot of a mountain near a dark forest.
It was rather lonely for him to play all day, so he thought upon a plan by which he could get a little company
and some excitement. He rushed down towards the village calling out “Wolf, Wolf”, and the villagers came out
to meet him, and some of them stopped with him for a considerable time. This pleased the boy so much that
few days afterwards he tried the same trick, and again the villagers came to his help.
But shortly after this a Wolf actually did came out from the forest, and began to worry the sheep, and the boy
of course cried out “Wolf, Wolf,” still louder than before. But this time the villagers, who had been fooled twice
before, thought the boy was again deceiving them, and nobody stirred to come to his help.
So the Wolf made a good meal off the boy’s flock, and when the boy complained, the wise man of the village
said: “A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth.”

In Barangay Dagbasan, there lived a girl named Althea. She was very happy with her family. But her
happiness has faded when COVID - 19 pandemic affected everybody’s normal way of life in their place. Althea
missed her friends, teachers, and classmates.
One afternoon after lunch, while Althea and her parents were watching TV, she said, “Ma, I am bored staying
inside our house for many months, can I go out and play with friends now?” Her mother explained that little
children are not allowed to go out because they are more vulnerable to infection like COVID - 19.
