VII. Course Description :

The course is design for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Industrial Technology programs. It covers topics on chemical
concepts, measurements, matter and energy, atomic and molecular structure of matter, the periodic table, chemical formula and equations and
stoichiometry. Technology related topics appropriate for each field of specialization are discussed. It also includes enrichment topics on

chemistry of water, its purification and supply, chemistry of cosmetics of clothing, chemistry of materials used in home construction: chemistry
of sanitation in the home.

IX. Course/Subject Outcomes:

1. Gain knowledge and understand the fundamental concepts a principles of general chemistry which will serve as sufficient background for
further and/or use in everyday life.
2. Acquire some science-based skills and techniques to be able to perform simple experiments in chemistry and other related fields.
3. Develop some desirable traits and attitude, particularly critical thinking, self-discipline, honesty, truthfulness, diligence and
cooperativeness through experiences encountered in the lecture classes and laboratory work.
4. Develop appreciation and interest in the course and be aware of the practical applications and social implications of the knowledge
