OUTLINE
Unlike ZX-1, the ZX-3 engine comes equipped with a cooled EGR to meet the tertiary exhaust gas
standard and have lower fuel consumption.
However, the sulfur content of the fuel changes to sulfuric acid when burned, corroding the engine
interior via the EGR cooler and possibly resulting in machine failure.
To avoid this, we recommend the use of genuine engine oil with elevated acidity-neutralization
performance (Super Wide DH-1). Depending on the level of the sulfur concentration of the fuel, it
may also be necessary to change the engine oil replacement interval.

Please refer to the attached reference.
When the sulfur concentration of the fuel is 2000ppm or more, the fuel needs to be replaced after
250 hours. When it is less than 2000ppm, it needs to be replaced after 500 hours.
On the next page, the estimated engine oil replacement interval by country is attached as a refer-
ence. However, this reference is based on results of limited sample analysis, and does not cover
all fuels. In actuality, there is a difference in the sulfur concentration even in a single country. We
urge you to instruct your customers even in countries that are categorized as less than 2000ppm
to analyze the fuel used to make final judgments.
Thoroughly read the safety section in the service manual before starting the work to ensure safe operation.
Welding work, if any, should only be done by qualified welders.

This reference is based on results of limited sample analysis and does not cover all fuels The factor
in the above chart is based on estimation.
In actuality, there is a difference in the sulfur concentration even in a single country. There are
cases where even in countries that are categorized as less than 2000ppm, fuels whose sulfur
concentration is 2000ppm or more are being used. We urge you to instruct your customers to
analyze the fuel used to make final judgments.
