After two years of suffering from
the pandemic, DSPC (Division Schools
Press Conference) was resurrected
last December 12, 2022, at GCCNHS
(Gingoog City Comprehensive
National High School) campus grounds.
The theme, "The Role of Campus
Journalism in promoting good
governance and social responsibilities",
points out the duty of each journalist
to our country and countrymen.
Many participants from different
school districts in Gingoog City,
both private and public, joined
the contest and were introduced
by Lorna Z. Licayan, head of the
Filipino Department at GCCNHS.
The Chief of the Curriculum
Implementation Division, Mr. Pablito
Altubar gave an insightful message
that acknowledges the Republic
Act No. 7079, also known as the
“Campus Journalism Act of 1991”.

awakens the heart of everyone,
"one pen, one book, one writer can
change the world", was spoken by
Mrs. Mary Ann Allera, the Assistant
School Division Superintendent.
Dr. Arlene Micu, the Division
Journalism Coordinator, then
announces the venue and facilitators
of each event for both English and
Filipino Categories. The events of the
said contest are as follows: Editorial
Writing, Editorial Cartooning, News
Writing, Column Writing, Science
and Health Writing, Feature Writing,
Sports Writing, Radio broadcasting
and Collaborative Publishing.
After the contest, winners
will be acknowledged from 1st to
3rd but only the 1st place holder
will qualify to the RSPC (Regional
Schools Press Conference).

Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
Successfully Held at CKC
SHEMAE LOURDES DY
The 4th Quarter Nationwide
Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
was held successfully on Thursday,
November 10, 2022, at Christ the
King College campus grounds. The
main purpose of the event is to
promote safety within the school
premises, encouraging students
to be alert and safe at all times.
Around 800 people participated in
the event, ranging from the institution’s
students, teachers, and personnel to
the respondents and employees of
the city’s Local Government Unit.
The earthquake drill started
around 9:00 AM when the bell
signaling an earthquake rang. After
the ringing, the students performed
the duck, cover, and hold procedure,
fled their classrooms once the ringing
stopped, and evacuated to the assigned
safety are on the school quadrangle.
Students and teachers formed
lines per class and did headcounts.

Afterward, the student rescue
teams were dispatched to go to the
different buildings of the school to
look for any victims within the area.
The Gingoog City Fire Station
personnel headed by FSINSP
Randy N. Obsioma took action and
extinguished the ongoing fire, saved
the victims, and stopped the chaos
that erupted around the campus.
The venue was graced with the
presence and words of the city mayor,
Erick G. Cañosa. The school president,
S. Ma. Anecita C. Navaja, RVM also
shared her words and wisdom. Student
representatives and the student
rescue team gave their experiences
and knowledge from the event.
With that, the program ended
around 11:50 AM, commemorating
the success of the 4th Quarter

College was filled with eager grade 10
and grade 12 students on April 28, 2023,
for a highly anticipated career talk. The
carefully planned program aimed to
educate and mentor the students about a
wide range of professional options. The
panel of speakers from various departments
captivated the audience, discussing diverse
careers such as accounting, criminology,
medicine, nursing, information
technology, social work, education, and
hospitality management. The interactive
format allowed for active participation
and fruitful knowledge exchange
between the speakers and students,
inspiring them to explore different
paths and empowering them to make
informed decisions about their future.
The career talk on April 28, 2023,
marked a significant turning point for
the grade 10 and grade 12 students at
Christ the King College. It solidified
their dreams, provided clarity on the
path to achievement, and broadened
their horizons. The speakers’ expertise,
personal narratives, and insightful advice
left a profound impact on the students,
igniting their determination to pursue their
goals relentlessly. The event instilled a
newfound sense of resolve and enthusiasm,
motivating the students to persistently
strive for success in their chosen fields.

In April, Christ the
King College celebrated Career
Month, encouraging students to
dress up as their dream careers every
Wednesday. This unique experience
allowed students to explore
professions, reflect on their interests,
and envision their future paths. Career
Month went beyond dressing up,
serving as a catalyst for self-discovery
and meaningful discussions among
students. It fostered camaraderie
and empowered students to make
informed decisions about their
academic and professional journeys.
The event showcased the
college’s commitment to holistic
education and the development of well-
rounded individuals. Career Month
served as a reminder of the importance
of providing opportunities for self-
exploration and embracing passions
wholeheartedly. It emphasized the
value of meaningful conversations
about different career options and
created an atmosphere that encouraged
students to envision their professional
identities. The impact of this initiative
will continue to resonate with the
students as they navigate their future
paths with confidence and clarity.

CITY OF GINGOOG, PHILIPPINES
— Last March 4, 2023, the Regional
Cluster Schools Press Conference
(RCSPC) was held at Don Restituto
Baol Central School. Qualifiers,
including the students of Christ the
King College, were present to compete
not just for their school but also for
the whole division of Gingoog City.
It was considered a clustered region
for the reason that the individuals
who qualified for the competition
were only going to compete in their
respective divisions. Unlike the
past years, they were allowed to
travel to where the host city will be.

The competition only lasted
for a day, yet it was a successful one.
These are the people who lifted
the City of Gingoog with their
pens and papers. The journalists
who bleed to give their inks.
CKC Makes Waves at the
2023 Regional Athletic Meet

In the year 2023, the Department of
Education, also known as DepEd, launched
the much anticipated Regional Athletic
Meet. This thrilling sporting event took
place over multiple dates, from April 21 to
23, April 28 to 30, and May 5 to 7. Athletes
from across the country gathered to compete,
seeking to establish themselves as the top
contenders for the prestigious Palarong
Pambansa. Each city sent its finest athletes
and coaches, aiming to secure victory and
bring honor to their respective regions.
Similar to the Regional Cluster
Schools Press Conference (RCSPC), the
format of this athletic meet followed a
divisional structure. Various cities within
Region 10, such as El Salvador City, Cagayan
de Oro City, Lanao del Norte, Gingoog City,
Camiguin Island, and Misamis Oriental,
hosted different sports competitions.
El Salvador City hosted the intense
matches of volleyball and basketball,
while Cagayan de Oro City showcased the
grace and skill of gymnastics, dancesport,
sepak takraw, and softball. Lanao del
Norte witnessed fierce competition in
athletics, archery, football, futsal, and
wushu. Gingoog City became the hub for
mind games, hosting chess, badminton,
tennis, and table tennis. The picturesque
Camiguin Island provided a backdrop
for swimming, wrestling, arnis, pencak
silat, billiards, boxing, and taekwondo.
G. Farnazo said that they are still
following the safety protocol against
COVID-19, hence, the Regional
Cluster Press Conference was born.
A total of 12 students
from Christ the King College with
their individual and group events
raised the City’s banner against
the cities and towns of Region X.
As a matter of fact, schools
from Malaybalay, Valencia,
Bukidnon, Iligan, Misamis Oriental,
Misamis Occidental, Tangub, Ozamiz,
Oroquieta, El Salvador, and Gingoog
participated in the 2023 RCSPC in
different locations around Region X.
To voice out the truth that they
knew to help change the world
through printing and writing.
Just like Martin Luther said, “If
you want to change the world,
pick up your pen paper”. Truly
these amazing young individuals
made all the Gingoognons proud!
Finally, Misamis Oriental became the
center of attention for baseball enthusiasts.
The strategic division of
sporting venues across different cities
was implemented to avoid overcrowding
and prioritize the health and safety of all
athletes. Given the ongoing prominence
of COVID-19 in the country, the
Department of Education took great care
to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the
Conduct of the 2023 Palarong Pambansa.
Representing our esteemed
institution, Christ the King College,
were our talented athletes, who not only
competed for themselves but also bore
the responsibility of representing the
entirety of Gingoog. Throughout the meet,
these remarkable individuals exhibited
unwavering determination, striving
relentlessly for the gold. Their countless
hours of rigorous training, exercise, practice,
and prayers culminated in this defining
moment—a chance to witness the tangible
results of their unwavering dedication.
True to their calling, our athletes
did not disappoint. They not only showcased
their unwavering determination but also
exemplified the true spirit of sportsmanship,
camaraderie, respect, discipline, and
passion. While not everyone emerged
victorious, the mere fact that they stood
there, representing their city with pride and
unyielding passion, was a victory in itself.

Everyone is very competitive
and no student let their team bring no
bacon. This year’s 2023 Intramurals
with the theme “ CKCIANS: Living
the Synodal Spirit and Ignacian
Marian Values through Sports” throws
exciting activities that will surely
enliven each student to participate and
perform. We all know that Intramurals
promote to encourage school-wide
involvement of all students in physical
activity.Quality Intramurals are
student-focused, inclusive, fun events
or activities that maximize physical
activity participation for all students.
Christ the King College promotes
friendly competition and let all student
enjoy being socialized and physic.
Being one of the most
anticipated activities every year,

CKC Celebrates
Personnel’s Day 2023

The faculty and staff of Christ
the King College were honored on
February 3, 2023, with a Personnel’s
Day celebration with the theme
“Mayumi at Kandili: Ang Habilin ng
mga Manggagawa sa Paaralan”. The
event, organized by the Student Council,
was held to recognize the hard work and
dedication of the school’s employees.
The celebration began with a
mass. The Student Council of the school
had worked tirelessly to prepare the
food and decorate the gymnasium with
balloons. The celebration continued

with excitement and energy. Different
sports from different categories outdoor
or indoor. One highlight among all the
events was the Cheer dance competition
participated by Grades 11 to the
College department. Each level serves
competitive performance with its
different styles and creative props and
moves. Starting from their introduction
everyone was amazed at how appealing
their performance are. Each performer
presents an astonishing performance.
This year’s Intramurals
reminded us about passion, integrity
and values as an Ignacian Marian
student. From basketball, volleyball,
table tennis, badminton, athletics
and softball, frisbee, takraw and
soccer. Participating in sports can
contribute towards achieving some
of the desired outcomes but involve
with a series of gift giving prepared
and organized by the students of each
grade level, with many expressing their
appreciation for the hard work of the
school’s personnel and non personnel.
The Personnel’s Day celebration
was a resounding success, thanks to the
efforts of the student council and the
enthusiastic participation of the school’s
faculty and staff. The celebration served
as a reminder of the importance of
recognizing the contribution of those
who work hard to ensure the success
of our school Christ The King College.

by their teachers. From the overall
championship, the second placer is
from the green team, the first placer is
from the yellow team and the overall
champion is from the blue team.

Praise Jam : Finding Faith
Through Songs FIONA MARIE PELAEZ
In a world where stress and
anxiety are common among students,
a congregation of Christians known
as Salt and Light, Christ The King
College found a way to bring joy
and positivity to their campus. They
organized a “praise jam,” a musical
event where students could come
together to sing and dance to their
favorite praise and worship songs.
The event, held in the
school field on a Friday afternoon,
was a huge success. The organizers
had decorated the space and
posters with inspiring messages,
creating a festive atmosphere. As
the students poured in, they were
greeted by the sound of upbeat
music and the sight of their peers
singing and dancing with abandon.
The event was open to
all students, regardless of their
religious background, and everyone
was encouraged to participate. The
organizers had prepared a list of
teams. Declaring third placer is from
Grade 7, second placer is from Grade
9, first placer is from Grade 8 and the
overall champion is from Grade 10.
From the Senior High School
category, declared second placer is
from White Tigers, the first placer
is from Royal Aces and the overall
champion is from Maroon Monarchs.
Intramurals ended with
unforgettable unity floods fun and
exciting activity. Indeed a year
to remember reminding us that it
emphasizes group spirit and the
enjoyment of sports in a less competitive
context and provide students the
opportunity to achieve individual
and team goals. While developing
a sense of sportsmanship and fair
play, they acquire the knowledge
and skills required for the future.

“I’ve never felt so alive,” said
senior Princess Rachel Odchigue.
“Being able to sing and dance with
my friends and classmates was so
cathartic. It was like all the stress

The event was a true
testament to the power of music
to bring people together. Many
students who had never met before
joined in the fun, bonding over their
shared love of music and their desire
to spread positivity on campus.

event, praised the students for
their initiative and creativity.
The organizers are
already planning their next
praise jam, and hope to make
it even bigger and better.

GS INTRAMURALS: NOT JUST ABOUT SPORTS!

Grade school pupils during

On March 26, 2023,
everyone was getting ready for
the parade. The girls were putting
on some make-up, and the boys,
on the other hand, were fixing
their hair. I could tell through
their eyes that some were sleepy,
some were excited, and some
were looking forward to playing.
I could tell how much effort the

GIANNA ALHERA LIMBARO
On November 15, 2022,
the Grade School Department
held its Talent Show as part of
the celebration of the CKC’s
75th Founding Anniversary.
The said activity was participated
in by all grade levels together
from pre-kindergarten and
kindergarten pupils until Grade 6.
Before that day happened,
everyone prepared and took some
time to practice their talent,
which they wanted to showcase.
The show started with an
invocation followed by the singing
of the Philippine National Anthem,
and right after the formal welcome,
Khloey Michal B. Dahiroc, a
Grade 4 pupil, set the bar so high
with her Interpretative dance
presentation. It was so beautiful,
and she looks like a ballerina
with her performance.
The show continued with
different dance presentations from
the different Grade levels, solo and
group song numbers, solo dance
numbers, the playing of the piano
by a Grade 6 pupil, and another
one by a Grade 2 pupil. What also
amazed the spectators was the
story-telling of a Grade 1 pupil,
which was beautifully delivered.
The Grade School Got Talent
teachers and the school had put in.
As soon as the list of the
assigned groupings was put on the
bulletin board, people rushed to see
what group they were assigned to.
Some were busy looking for their
groups, and others were just happy
that they got an athletic teammate,
while I stood there wondering if I
could be useful to my team.
Show exceeded the expectations
of the spectators. The parents
were all so proud of their
child’s confidence on stage.
Everyone had fun and
enjoyed the show brought by
the Grade School Department.
Indeed, the Talent Show was a
great way to celebrate CKC’s
75th Founding Anniversary, and
it highlighted the pupils’ talents
more creatively and enjoyably.
GS CKCIANS TOGETHER IN PRAYER
ALIYAH CARYL ALBANO
On October 31, 2022, and
November 7, 2022, Christ the King
College, Grade School Department
once again held its annual “Saint
look-alike” activity as part of
the culmination day celebration.
The activity for Kindergarten to
Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6 pupils
was separated in compliance with
the safety protocols. The first
group had it on October 31, 2022,
at 8:00 a.m. and the second group
had it on November 7, 2022, at
1:00 p.m. The main highlight was
the “Living Rosary,” which allows
everyone to bring into prayer our
intentions at the same time an

After the parade, the
students changed, started to wear
their unique colored shirts and
their props, and went to their
respective teams in preparation
for the team yell. As soon as the
ceremony started, the pupils
became quiet, and I began to worry
since there were only a few who
knew how to do the chant in our
group, or should I say, only two,
including me, knew how to yell.
The first part of the
ceremony on the first day ended, and
I went to the cafeteria and saw a lot
of food booths around the ground
selling different varieties of snacks
that were appealing. Moments
later, part two went on to begin
the field demonstration or dance
presentation of the Grade school. It
was so fun, and the staged parents,
families, and visitors enjoyed it.

to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
All pupils in school
whether Catholic or Non-
Catholic are encouraged to wear
or portray any saints or holy men
and women by wearing their
attires, costume, and disposition.
The “Living Rosary” was
successful; around 65 students
were chosen to light the candles
inside a glass and place it on the
side of the huge rosary formed by
pupils and students, and around 12
students volunteered to lead the
prayers so everyone could follow.
The learners then offered flowers

celebration of the Intramurals. The
three teams—Team Blue, Team
Green, and Team Yellow—were
invested in winning the different
games. Initially, the tug-of-war
was the first game played by the
respective teams, and the winner
was the green team. Different
games followed on the succeeding
days: soccer, badminton,
volleyball, and chess, as well as
varieties of parlor games that were
also played by the pre-kindergarten
and kindergarten pupils.
The celebration lasted for
a week, and everyone tasted and
saw the beauty of sports. Indeed,
the week-long intramurals were
not just about sports and who’s
the better player or the winner, but
also a celebration of friendship,
unity, support for children’s
passion, and, of course, having fun.

together in prayer, embody
the Ignacian-Marian spirit.

ang mga mag-aaral sa pagsali sa
iba’t-ibang Gawain at patimplak.
Maraming mga kawili-wiling
tagpo ang ikinasaya ng mga
mag-aaral mula Pre-Kinder
hanggang Ika-anim na baiting.
Nagtapos naman ang
buong buwang selebrasyon sa
isang panapos na programa na
ginanap sa paaralan noong ika-

saan ay dinaluhan ng lahat.
Ipinagdiriwang ito sa
pamamagitan ng ibat-ibang

maipakita an gating pagpapahalaga
sa paggamit ng ating Wikang

Grade School pupils of Christ
the King College received their
First Holy Communion at San
Ignacio Chapel presided by
Rev. Fr. Arnel Bahian, SSJV.
The First Communicants
from Grade 4 -6 pupils joyfully
received their First Holy Communion
as a symbol of Christian Faith
through the body and blood of
Christ. In witness are the parents,
guardians, teachers, and RVM
sisters. It is certainly a special day

CKC Crowns Mr. and Ms.
Environmental Icon

Following the Season of
Creation theme, Christ the King
College crowned the Junior High
School Mr. and Ms. Environmental
Icon and conducted an Interpretative
Dance Competition on October
1, 2022, in the CKC Gymnasium.
The purpose of the event
was to demonstrate how the youth
should advocate and protect creation
by establishing the significance of
sustaining God's creation in ways
that the youth can collaborate.
The celebration began with
an invocation led by the Grade 10 St.
John Paul II students. Ms. Mary Queen
Bagongon officially opened the event
with her opening remarks by stating
that “protecting God's creation should
be a challenge for the young to maintain
a sustainable and green community”.
After that, Ms. Luxmie Pardillo
introduced the judges, Mr. Paul Rem
Jee Diaz, Ms. Irene Himpit, Mr. Jerry
Clark Cabuntucan, Mr. Rey Montalban,
and Ms. Rizza Mae Zambrano.

as well as for the Interpretative Dance
Contest, in order for the contestants

Celebrates Holy Men and Women
SAVANA CHAN
November 07, 2022 – Christ
the King College held the Parade of
Saints ,Holy Men and Women which
corresponds to All Saint’s Day, in the
afternoon at the campus gymnasium,
where students participated in the
portrayal of their selected saints
that resonated with themselves.
Students from Kindergarten,
Elementary, Junior High, and
Senior High School commemorated
the event by representing saints,
dressing themselves up to look
like the saints of their choice.
The Parade of Saints and Holy

began with Grade 7 St. Cecilia
Group 1 performing the song,
"Touch the Sky," followed by Group
2 performing the song, "Anak ng
Pasig," and the two St. Joseph groups
performing the songs, "Colors of
the Wind" and "Anak ng Pasig".
The last 4 groups from the
Interpretative Dance Competition were
the Grade 8 St. Lorenzo Ruiz Groups
1 and 2 and the Grade 8 St. Therese
of the Child Jesus Groups 1 and 2.
For the search for the Mr. and Ms.
Environmental Icon, candidates flaunted
their school uniforms while displaying
formality with a dash of personality.
Candidates presented the finest
designs and most intricate details of their
craft. The recycled costume projects
that their classmates undertook will be
showcased during this portion of the
event. Finally, Ms. Gisa Tapic read the
rules for the hashtag and answer portion
of the contest, which is the part that
everyone is most looking forward to.

Men and Women event started with
a rosary prayer, in which students
participated faithfully in the school’s
gymnasium. After the prayer, each
student in ascending grade level,
introduced their names, gave a brief
background of the saint or biblical
character, and explained why they
have chosen that specific one.
Before the said day of the
event, each class prepared cash
donations. This was later revealed to be
reflected in the “Most Generous Class”
title, to follow the school’s core values
which are in service to others in need.

Each section of every grade
level was tasked to portray a country
that is a part of the United Nations.
Several countries from Asia, South
America, North America, Antarctica,
Europe, Africa, and Australia were
represented by the Senior High School

School is our second home”,
as the saying goes. For years,
we’ve been a part of a much larger
community than we initially realize.
With hundreds of students each
year and as new academic years
come, there comes a time in which
schools and their students will
elect their student leaders. As such,
there is an ongoing concern about
how important a student leader is.
Every year at the start of
every school year, students from
around the world, especially around
the Philippines, gather to have their
classroom elections, student council

Where Does Growth Start?
Many people often argue that
value formation should be done in
school. However, others insist that it
should rather be done at home. This
sparks a new discussion of whether
it is better to entrust the growth of
our children to the teachers or have
the parents prioritize them early on.
“No school can work
well for children if parents and
teachers do not act in partnership
on behalf of the children’s best
interests.” These are words from
Dorothy Cohen that show how child
development should ideally be done.
How is a child’s character
formed? Is it a teacher’s job or a
parent’s responsibility? The answer
lies in how we view the educational
system of today. That is 21st century
education. The system of today
focuses more on giving a variety

Becoming the Bigger Person
Bullying is a common
thing all around the world, and
schools, either public or private, is
no exception. Different kids suffered
either physically, mentally, or
even both due to constant bullying
around different school campuses.
Kids with special disabilities,
different beliefs, and looks are the
number one targets of several bullies
who think they are better than anyone
and everyone else. We even noticed
a group of older boys bullying a short
boy who appears to be in the same
grade as them, and it was sad to see
especially after learning the group
did it just for fun because the boy
may be a bit insecure of his height.
The horrible effects on the
victims of bullying, for example,
elections, and elections for their
clubs and committees. According
to an article by the Bishop Tyrrell
Anglican College, student leadership
is an essential part of education.
With this, it becomes clear how
important they are to make our school
experience a more memorable one.
As a student leader, my own
two eyes witnessed how student
leaders should be appreciated and
valued more. If you have been in the
position before or are currently in the
position, you would know that being
one is not an easy feat. Thus, being a
student leader is not a walk in the park
of learning opportunities which
is a result of innovation and also
from the effects of the pandemic.
According to Singh (2021),
family is the most important
platform and foundation for a child
to learn values. Social standards
and customs provided by a family
provide the emotional and physical
basis for a child. They provide
informal ways of learning such as
love and compassion, all the while
preparing them for their next step.
Educators, on the other hand,
take on many roles in children’s
lives. They act as role models,
showing them how one should act and
educate them in various disciplines
offered by the school. In this manner,
they are the child’s bridge towards
further growth and development,
both in ethics and knowledge.

good for all the students not only in the

Furthermore, they require a lot
of hard work and practice in
communication skills. Nevertheless,
our student leaders never gave up
despite inconveniences that may
arise. Courage is one of the greatest

should be a balance between school
and home interaction. However,
that is not the case. Many schools
have an increasing problem of
misbehavior in various forms such
as bullying, detachment, and class-
cutting. Teachers have problems
imposing discipline among children
because the necessary values of
good character are not fully formed
at home. This compromises quality
education because instead of educators
focusing on the lesson, they spend
additional time imposing discipline.
Christ the King College
is an institution known for quality
education and moral standards. As
such, many parents send their children
to this school, hoping that they
will grow in spirit and knowledge.
Teachers, on the other hand, have to
too much just because they are being
looked down on for their weight, looks,
sickness and disability, race, religion,
and their beliefs. Many are wounded
both body and mind by children who
thinks they rule the entire world and have
everything wrapped around their fingers.
Thankfully, most teachers
handle this situation quite well because
they were able to find out about
the problem and give justice to the
wronged student and punish the guilty
one and they also try to make sure the
situation doesn’t happen ever again.
They also try to provide help and
therapy to the bullied child and they
will also lecture the child’s bully just
to make sure that he or she will never
bully anyone in the near or far future.
Another type of bullying
factors in becoming a great leader
and that is to say that our leaders, no
matter what position they are in, are
brave and amazing in their own right.
Student leaders are our guide. They
are people, just like the rest of us, yet
they have this special responsibility
that not all students have. They have
this aura that lures you in. They have
the natural aura of a great leader.
At the end of the day, these student
leaders of ours make our school life
much easier and they paved the way
for us to be more responsible students
in our schools. A great amount of
appreciation for them is in order.

From a personal perspective,
I witness how difficult it has
become for teachers to manage the
increasing workload. Piled with the
misbehavior of students, they are
often stressed and have difficulty

formation can be much more effective.
If homes were modeled
once more to be an avenue of safe
role-modeling and schools to be an
environment of effective cognitive
development, then it would produce
many ideal leaders in society. Above all,
a successful child becomes the greatest
pride for both teachers and parents.

be vigilant, strong, and careful to
avoid being bullied once again. If
it still doesn’t stop, do not hesitate
to report this issue to your teacher,
parent, or any adult you can trust.

Narito na ang huling araw ng
paaralan. Sa bawat paghakbang ko,
nadarama ko ang pagtibok ng aking puso.
Bilang isang mag-aaral malapit nang
matapos ang taon at masasalubong ko
na ang tagumpay at bagong paglalakbay
sa susunod na kabanata ng aking buhay.
Nakatayo ako sa harap ng aming
silid-aralan, tinitingnan ang mga pintuan
na nagbubukas ng mga oportunidad
para sa amin. Sa bawat sulok ng
paaralan, aking nakikita ang mga alaala
ng aking mga kabataan, mga halakhak,
mga sakripisyo, at mga tagumpay.
Ang huling araw ng paaralan
ay puno ng emosyon. Nakasama ko ang
mga kaibigan kong nagpatibay sa akin
sa mga hamon at mga sandaling saya. Sa

This is a stunning
characteristic that is found in every
human being but cannot reach the
eyes of the ordinary, but the eye of
an imaginative individual or the heart
of a pure soul. This aspect creates a
clear yet soft sound, but how does it
echo from every corner of the world?
I hear several tunes inside
these beige and blue walls that almost
block the view of the vast lands beyond
as I stare at the green-and-white
board in front of me. These melodies
are somewhat calling for something;
I didn’t understand anything the
cries produced; I didn’t know where
they all came from, not until now.
Despite the several years
that have passed and many things
that have changed, there are some

me, I finally knew what it was—
something precious like gold and as

The rest of my days were
normal, hearing the melodies of my
fellow schoolmates and classmates
as I listened to class, and then
out of the blue, an announcement
came: for three specific days, we can
wear our desired career attire to show
everyone what we wish to become.

May 26, 2023, was our
graduation day, our last day as an
elementary student, our last day as
After our ceremony, I saw my
classmates saying their farewells
while I stood there, realizing that
one day everyone is going to be
living on their own and it is all going
to be a memory. As I look back on
our time, I can see just how much I
have grown and how far I have come.
              For some, the last day
of school marks the end of an era.
They may have spent years at the
same school, grown up with the
same classmates, and learned from
the same teachers. For them, leaving
school means leaving behind a part
of their childhood and growing
up. As the bell rings, students rush
out of the classrooms, yelling and
cheering. There are hugs, high-
fives, and tears as they say goodbye
to each other. Some students sign
each other’s shirts, while others take
selfies, trying to capture the moment.
I have faced challenges and
triumphs, experienced joys and
sorrows, laughed and cried, made
lifelong memories, and formed
enduring friendships. It is hard
knowing you will never be able to

Most rejoiced, some were quiet, and
some were gloomy as a rainy day.
The first day arrived, and I
slipped on a white coat before leaving
my home, excited to know what others
desire more clearly. As I stepped inside
my second home, I saw many cheerful
people, and their harmonies became a bit
clearer as they laughed with their closest
friends. Although it did not escape my
sight that some didn’t show what their
dreams were, despite the melodies
from their hearts saying otherwise,
The days went on, and still,
some didn’t bother to show the
hidden music in their hearts to the
world around them. I wondered if
perhaps they are forced to not show
walk into that class again, sit in your
seat, and chat with your friends. It
feels weird growing up, moving
on, having new friends, learning
new lessons, and changing. I have
learned to accept it, but the lifelong
memories will always be with me.
Teachers look on with
mixed feelings as they watch their
students leave for the last time.
They may feel proud of their
students’ accomplishments but also
sad to see them go. They know that
some of their students will go on to
great things, while others may face
challenges. As the school empties
out, the hallways become eerily
quiet. Classrooms are cleaned
out, and bulletin boards are taken
down. The school becomes a ghost
town, with only the memories
of the school year left behind.
For many students, the last
day of school ends with a sense of
accomplishment and excitement
for the future. They know that they
have grown and changed over the
past year, and they are ready to
take on whatever comes next. In
the end, graduation is a bittersweet
celebration of the past, present, and
future. It’s a time to appreciate where
we are, acknowledge where we are,
and embrace where we are headed.

The space that I have suffused
and the margin unused was waiting to
be perfused. I have taken refuge with
the mask I have secured. I have ventured
too many unadventurous journeys
that I have learned to cover my scars.
The fear of waking up in
reality and being conscious of the
truth has held me in a painful wreck.
Even then, I would still desire to
believe those lingering thoughts in
the back of my mind, the thought of
going home victorious. Certainly,
I am not the only one who feels this
way. I sat and waited in dire, hidden in
emotional anticipation and excitement.
My lies might have been uncountable
that day, but not as how I immensely
prayed to win the title that day. I know
for a fact; I was not the only one who
prayed and begged that same way.
My confidence was oozing,
although I was dying. No breathing
nor heartbeat cannot be woken up,

Oh, how fun it is to find the
right words to use in this sentence.
I sit in front of my laptop, feeling
inspiration run through me as I
mesmerizingly type a phrase. My
struggles and doubts are all shared
into this one paragraph, releasing the
cold clutches of silence. My voice is
shared through these words I share
with you all, couldn’t you hear me?
My hand and pen work
together beautifully to make the
perfect narrative. My paper, filled
with indelible ink, writes a story, a
skin is pale and waxy, pupils fixated,
and the mouth falling open. But mine
was heavy and my heart would not
stop beating, the reverberation was
way louder than the microphone.
I was wide awake and conscious,
aware of the faces of my competitors.
I was cold but the pores of my skin
were exuding liquid. My pupils were
fixated on the huge screen, waiting for
my name to show up. My mouth was
clamped as tightly as it could, scared
that the stocks around me would
notice the trembling of my voice.
I waited for the sound of my
name, despite the fact that I would never
hear its echo from the microphone
and through the whole roof. It was
a shame; my name was not on the
screen; my name was never called.
I sat there like a piece of torn paper
from its binder, alone and bare.
How can our words determine
story more interesting than the
last. Every time I write, I am
sharing my utmost expressions.
I am sharing my whole world
with you. I am writing my
story, my advice, and my aspirations.
I hope you stay with me and
keep me sane in this silent world.
Your beauty cannot be
expressed through words alone.
With you, my power outshines
the rest. I am regarded as reliable
in my service and it’s because of
you that I am here writing. You
motivate me to shine with my
thoughts and you taught me that it’s

the winner? That day I was trained to
scribble on an empty paper that was
waiting to be filled. Yet, I feared that my
words would not be enough to qualify
for this competition. I wrote every word
with indecisiveness, questioning every
meaning of the words. Would this word
make me a winner? Did my sweat ruin
the tattooed words on my paper? My
pen was perfectly inked, filled and
ready to be wielded in a gruesome
battle. I thought it was enough to
make my words impenetrable, and I
could only hope enough that it would
pierce my enemies and my appraisers.
How did I not win? Perhaps,
the reason for this was I chose to write
for fame and started chasing thtitle.
Maybe yes, that day I could only
think of words that would make
me a winner. But I left in disdain,
comforting words were said but were
stories you see on TV and together,
we make the perfect team of
defeating the evil that surrounds us.
Silence is our enemy in this
world where you need to shout.
They silence us, but we cannot stand
by and let the shackles bind us any
further. They separate us, but no
one could. They will watch us
as we set the truth in play. When
I hold you, the gears are in full
motion. It seems difficult, but
what have we not experienced
together that we cannot overcome?
My pen, to whom I’m
dedicating this to. You provided me
with a voice when my mouth can’t
speak. You gave me hope that our

I have engaged in making a literary
composition. Delivered meaningful
elements of speech, I have expressed so
many things in so many words. I have
marked those papers with symbols,
letters, or words. I have written words.

ng Agosto ay napakabilis ng tibok ng
kanyang puso na para bang galing sa
pagtakbo ng ilang kilometro. Sa unang
tapak palang niya sa loob ng silid-aralan
ay halo-halo ang naramdaman niya.

Nagsasalita na may nakasabit na

ama niya ang nag impluwensya sa
kanya na maging magaling at masipag
na guro. Gustong-gusto kasi nito na
makita siyang nakatayo nang matuwid
sa harap ng maraming nakikinig
na may nakasabit na magandang
ngiti sa kanyang kaakit-akit na labi.

C. Pardillo, ang pangalawa at
panghuling bagong guro ng Junior
High School Department na nagtuturo
sa asignaturang Agham ay sa kabila
ng makulimlim na kalangitan ay
masaya niyang ikinuwento ang
kanyang karanasan. Pagkatapos niya

bumabagabag sa kanyang isipan
noon ay masasabi na niyang malayo

Sa kabila ng lahat na
kanilang dinanas sa mga bagay
na kay hirap iwasan ay hindi sila
sumuko para makamit ang pangarap.
Hindi pa natatapos ang kanilang
paglalakbay ay marami na silang
natutuhan sa buhay. Ito ay buong-

are they talking about? What’s the event?
Is it that time of the school year again?
Every school year there’s one
thing that students, teachers, staff, and
alumni look forward to, the school’s
anniversary. It’s Christ the King
College’s 75th Founding Anniversary.
The event will be held on November
14- 18, 2022 on its campus. For that
whole week, the CKCians use the time
for celebrating and giving thanks to the
school for its service and education.
Christ the King College has
been in service for 75 years. From a
small community of preachers that
wanted to give out formal education to
a huge school that educates hundreds
a year has been such a milestone.
The achievements and success are
incredible. Over all those years the
quality Christian Education has never
been unattained. With the teachers and
students the school has never failed.
“The feeling of meeting my
old classmates again just gives me a
different spark.” – Alumnus from Christ
the King College. After how many
years you’ve graduated from CKC, the
memories, learning and fun you make
can never be replaceable. The hardships
and failures, all of it will just pay off. No
matter what year it is, getting educated
from CKC will always be worth it,

Makikita ito sa bandila ng Pilipinas
sa araw na sumisimbolo ng pag-asa
at ligaya. Ang kulay na ito ay hindi
man makikita sa pisikal na anyo ng
isang Pilipino mararamdaman mo ito

schoolmates, for the outfits and for
what’s going to happen after the night.

The enthusiasm that the students
and Alumni have during the week of
the anniversary is tremendous. “The
whole month of November can be truly
surprising. The unpredictable activities
can be a huge thrill for us all. I usually
look forward to the week wherein the
school dedicates it to the Homecoming
Anniversary.” – CKC Student. The
thrill and joy it can give to everyone,
something extremely unregistrable. For
S.Y. 2022- 2023, the celebration for this
year’s anniversary was phenomenal, it
was like having a fantasy that came true.

for it is the year that we finally get to

three years because of the COVID-19
virus. I’m assured that this year hasn’t
only got the students, personnel and
alumni excited but also fellow locals in
Gingoog City, for CKC has been known
for having extremely extravagant
homecoming anniversary celebrations.
November 2022, was the time
CKCians were anticipating the most
stimulating and breath-taking events
and performances for the school year.
Whether it was booths or food stalls,
the fellow CKCians would have fun
and enjoy it. “I had a lot of fun. The
booths were my favorite part. The food
was delicious and the program was
enjoyable. It was my first homecoming
anniversary celebration and CKC
made it very memorable for me.” –

campus, perhaps because they enrolled
in the school during the pandemic.

Nang mangyari ang pandemya,
maraming mga bagay-bagay ang
nagbago. Ito ang dahilan nang natigil
ang pakikipaghalubilo sa ibang tao at
ang iba’t ibang kaganapan sa paaralan.
May ibang nagkaroon ng social anxiety,
depresyon, at stress. Kaya naman
naapektuhan ang pansariling hangad
na kung saan ang isang tao ay ayaw ng
lumabas sa bahay at makipaghalubilo.
Pakikipaghalubilo o socializing
ay ang pagkilos o gawi ng pakikilahok
sa mga aktibidad na kung saan
ay nagdudulot sa isang tao na
kumilos sa paraang katanggap-
tanggap sa nakapaligid sa kanya.
Ito ay ayon kay Lev Vygotsky, isang
sikolohistang Ruso na nagpasimula
ng Sociocultural Theory. Naniniwala
siya na ang pakikipaghalubilo
sa kapwa ay may malaking
kontribusyon sa paglago ng isang
bata patungo sa kanyang pagtanda.
Sa kanyang pahayag ay
naipakita na kapag ang mga tao ay may
kayang makikipaghalubilo, sila ay
mas nakatuon sa kasalukuyan, at hindi
gaanong nakatuon sa nakaraan. Higit
pa rito, kapag kasama ang iba, mas
maiwasan ang pag-iisa at kalungkutan.
Ngunit sa pag-iisa din ay isang
pagkakataon na mag-isip tungkol sa
mga nakaraang karanasan at mga plano
sa hinaharap, upang makapagpahinga
mula sa stress at upang makisali sa
mga piniling aktibidad sa paglilibang.
Ang mga kaganapan sa
paaralan ay may malaking tulong
sa mga mag-aaral upang masanay
sa pakikipaglahok at pagharap sa
maraming tao nang hindi kinakabahan
at maiwasan ang social anxiety. Sa
mga nagdaang dalawang taon, muling
nagbukas ang paaralan para sa mga
mag-aaral at sinimulan ang mga iba’t
ibang kasiya-siyahang aktibidad.
Maraming iba’t ibang aktibidad
ang itinampok sa Christ the King
College na sumukat sa kakayahang
makipaghalubilo ng mga mag-aaral.
Kung mapapansin, may mag-aaral
na nasisiyahan at meron din namang
nahihirapan sa panibagong pangyayari
sa kanilang buhay. Ano nga ba ang
kahalagahan ng pakikipaghalubilo?
Ang pakikipaghalubilo ay
nakatutulong sa mga mag-aaral at
lahat ng sangkot na magkaroon ng
malusog na buhay. Ito ay tumutulong
na mapanatili ang magandang
mental at pisikal na kalusugan.
Kapag alam mo na kung paano
makipag-usap at maunawaan ang
iba, mas madaling tanggapin sila,
ang kanilang mga opinyon at ang
kanilang mga pangangailangan.
Dahil sa pakikipaghalubilo
ng mga mag-aaral ay mapapaunlad
ang kasanayan sa interpersonal.

Thinking it was just a normal
rainy day when struck by another
Low-Pressure Area (LPA) that turned
out to be our worst nightmare. It
all poured with rage, with no sign
of retreat from the heavy and dark
clouds, then disaster struck, affecting
not just one but many places at once
and destroying what we value most.
Lives, homes, and livelihoods were
taken away on what was supposed
to be a festive and merry day.
On the 10th day of December
2022 where a Low-Pressure Area
(LPA), which is the atmosphere air
upward and downward circulation
that eliminates a small portion of the
atmosphere from a region, poured.
Numerous locations were flooded,
people were requesting assistance, and
lives were lost. However, there is not
much that the Philippines can do as
another weather disturbance occurred
in late December of 2022 until early
January of 2023. Dumped by heavy
rainfalls, floods, and landslides was
how Filipinos celebrated the holidays
and welcomed the beginning of a new
year. It was a nightmare for those who
have lost their homes and loved ones,
but when we thought it would end
there and that we were safe, a much
stronger and rougher fall hit. The
second strike of LPA truly scared the
Filipino citizens more than the first
one as it was continuously pouring
for several days. As more drops
continue to fall, it led to numerous
people being rescued and evacuated to
safer areas. Furthermore, it prompted
a whole week of class suspension
in many regions as the water levels

“Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. instructed
the release of funds, which exceeded
almost 3 million pesos. This was
put out to repair the wrecked school
buildings in Misamis Oriental
caused by the flash floods. Along
with the release of funds, he also
supervised the housing authorities in
the relocation of affected residences.
After identifying the relocation area,
the building materials were sent out
immediately. When a typhoon hits, it
is crucial that all people work together
to aid one another. To do this, citizens
must be aware of the potential damage
that a typhoon may bring about.
Disaster may be a hassle
and a big problem but it offers two
lessons: a moment to react and
a decision to conquer. If fail to
prepare, prepare to fail. Those who
fail cannot help but utter, rain, rain,
go away, humanity is in dismay.

When the sports fest was
held, it included many popular sports
such as volleyball, badminton, sepak
takraw, and chess. But there are still
debates going on that don’t agree
that chess is a sport, their reason is
that it lacks physical skills. Some
even go as far as saying that if it’s a
sport, it’s a lazy one, but chess players
like Angelo De Lara, firmly stand
their ground that chess is a sport.
