S1 + be + Tính từ ngắn –er + THAN + S2
Quy tắc 111:
1 âm tiết
1 phụ âm cuối
1 nguyên âm trước phụ âm cuối
VD:
Big -> bigger
The elephant is bigger THAN the mouse.
High -> higher
This house is higher THAN that house.
Short -> shorter
Nam is shorter THAN Lan.

2. Tính từ dài (2 âm tiết trở lên)

S1 + be + MORE Tính từ dài + THAN + S2.
VD:
Beautiful -> more beautiful
This girl is MORE beautiful THAN that girl.
Important -> more important
Maths is MORE important THAN literature.

Tính từ dài có 2 âm tiết tận cùng với –y

VD: happy
Happy – Happier
Funny – Funnier

Tính từ dài có 2 âm tiết tận cùng là –e

VD: simple
Simple -> simpler

*Nhấn mạnh so sánh hơn:

far/ much//quite/(fairly) + so sánh hơn
much larger
Ex: My cake is much bigger than her cake.
My hometown is much/far larger than that in the past.
much farther

II. So sánh nhất:

S1 + be + THE + SO SÁNH NHẤT + nhóm,…
Ex: Tim is the best student in my class.
Tim is the best student of my class.
Russia is the largest country in the world.

Bê nguyên xi so sánh hơn
Ex: large -> the largest
Big -> the biggest
Happy -> the happiest
Messy -> the messiest
Simple -> the simplest/ the most simple

*Lược bỏ chữ ‘the’:
