Introduction
As part of the learning process in school, physical education is included in every
academic curriculum to help students maintain a healthy lifestyle to achieve the full
potential in other academic subjects. Physical education gives the students the ability to
improve their skills in terms of physical activity. It develops motor skills, physical fitness,
sportsmanship and social interaction among participants.
ICSA (International Institute of Computer Science and Administration), being the
provider of learning, regularly facilitates sports related activities to deliver physical fitness
and health to their students who are mostly OFWs. It helps the OFW students to be
physically and mentally healthy. Secondly those activities help CAP students attain their
goal of completing the requirements for their Physical Education subjects and the said will
be discussed in this report.
I. The Activity
The sportsfest was held in Egaila Beach, Fintas – Kuwait on the 17 th of November,
2023 and started at 11:00 in the morning. The theme of the activity is “CAPICSANIAN
PALAKASAN – SPORTSFEST 2023.” It was participated by the different department of ICSA
like IT, UK Diploma, Health Services and CAP
College. We, CAP College students, named our
team as “Team AGILA.”
V. What preparations did you make for this activity – what, why and how long?
At the time CAPICSANIAN Sportsfest 2023 announced on November 12, 2023, I
prepare myself for the event as per below aspects:
1. Physically – although I regularly walk before dinner, 6 days before the sportsfest
I walk for 5 kilometers daily to keep my body in shape and be prepared for the
event.
2. Mentally – on the same day of registration, I requested and get approval for a
change of my work schedule from morning to night duty. Approved changed of
work shift ensures that I can attend the Sportsfest without worrying about my
work.
3. Intellectually – night before the Sportsfest, I made a little check from the internet
what are the games included in a school sportsfest. This is to help me think what
my strategy would be to possibly win those games.
VI. What actual tasks did you do during the activity?
Past 11:00 in the morning at the shore of Egaila beach, I help other students to
gather table and chairs in preparation for the event. As participants arrived, we noticed
that the space we choose will not fit for all. With the advice of Ms. Bads, ICSA-PE
coordinator, we moved the tables and chairs to the bigger place where there is lawn and
little far from the shore.
When the place is set for CAP College students, the event started with a Zumba
dance session as warm up in preparation for the games. The Zumba was instructed/headed
by Aris, one of the ICSA’s Caregiver student.
The first team game CAP College students participated is the Sack Race where we
sadly didn’t win. Unfortunately, I couldn’t participate because while the game starts, I am
with other teammates working on the team banner.
As the event continues, I, together with CAP College students participated and
compete against other teams in the following games like Jump Rope Race, Volleyball and
Tug of War.
The only game exclusively played by CAP College Students is the “Maria Went to
Town”. In this game, one member per group shall be dressed as Maria, wearing long skirt
and umbrella with basket, and must travel a designated area and turn around. Relay it on to
the next member and wear again the necessary dress and accessories, until finishes all the
team members. The first team to finish wins.
