Bonifacio and Katipunan Movement (Midterms)

Instructions:

Answer the following questions below . Be succinct with your answer. Do not go around the bush, just
answer the question clear and straight to the point. Use our template for this activity. Read the rubric 20
pts.

A. What is your first impression of ANDRES BONIFACIO? Elaborate your answer.

My first impression of Andres Bonifacio is that he played a significant role in the
attainment of our collective freedom. I am also aware that his death was a result of the betrayal
of his fellowmen because one of my teachers when I was in junior high school, said that the
national hero should be Bonifacio rather than Rizal because this might sound as belittling Rizal’s
contributions but she said Bonifacio fought for our freedom while Rizal was being civil with the
Spaniards even if he knew that they were oppressing his fellowmen.

B. What have you learned from our lesson about the life of ANDRES? Be clear and precise with
your answer.
I think I have learned that being a patriot or nationalist can be manifested even if you
are part of the lower class of a nation, but it should start with one’s self to manifest collectively.
Because fighting for what you love and treasure will fuel your will to achieve it with whatever
means necessary and Bonifacio’s desire for emancipation was rooted in his love for his country
and fellowmen. He stood for what is right and showed compassion when he was brutally
arrested by his fellowmen whom he trusted.

C. What does the family of Andres do, when their parents got sick and eventually died, just to meet
both ends?
When their parents died, Andres assumed the role of being the breadwinner of the
family. He worked a lot of jobs in order to provide for his 5 siblings. He worked as a market
peddler, and a draftsman with great penmanship, made canes and paper fans that he and his
siblings sold, and made posters for a business firm. When he grew older, he became a
mandatario or a clerk-messenger, then he transferred to another company for a higher income
and was responsible for the company’s inventory. He is also a theater actor that often played a
character named Bernardo Carpio.

D. How important is your family to you? Explain yourself and give a concrete example
My family is important to me and one of the main reasons why I chose to be in this field.
I grew up in a family of nurses and was exposed to this profession when I was young. My family
played a big role in who am I today, and that may have its negatives and positives but those
experiences are my stepping stones to how I was in the past, how I am today, and how I’ll be in
the future. They are the pillars that support me and guide me every day. Although now, I also
see that I should be more independent as time passes to live a life that I’ll be happy with but ill
never forget the things that they instilled and they will always be considered with every decision
that I make.
