II. Project Summary


Ang Ang -ang sa Pagbasa is patterned with La Phovocab flueco which
is originally created by the adviser, this is mnemonic pattern that stands for
Oral Language, Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency and
Comprehension or commonly known as the ‘big six’ which need to be
integrated on the learner’s literacy experience. This is a comprehensive,
interactive and meaningful classroom activity that will cover all the big six in
the everyday routine of the Grade 1 learners.

This is done every 3:00-4:00 in the afternoon with specific objective


to achieve the big 6 components thus, aiming to achieve the desired literacy
outcome. This is consisted of different learning activities where learners are
expected to be active learners. This is also in support with Project BULIG.

In the advent of achieving 21 st literate learners the Department of education


has issued various Orders that will strengthen the standard of Reading Programs in
support with the implementation of k to 12 basic education program in order to
continuously produce responsible and productive citizens equipped with essential
competencies and skills for lifelong learning (DM No. 173 s. 2019 part)
The program of work of LA phovocab flueco are as follows:

Oral Language (activity: Oral Language prompt cards or the fast talk )
This is a set of question that requires immediate answer. The questions are
mostly based on what if’s. This is fun , interactive and builds strong foundation in
developing their Oral Language skills.

Phonological Awareness (HEAR Me, SEE Me)


These are set of words that are developmentally appropriate with the 1st
grade learners . This is done through explicit instructions where learners is to focus on
the sound itself as by definition that Phonological Awareness is the ability to hear and
manipulate parts of spoken language.
Phonics (Phrase Me!)
Phonics deals with both written and spoken language. Thus, this is with the
great effort of the eyes and ears. This activity is done through reading phrases.
Vocabulary (Decode Me)
Decode Me is a challenging activity where going to decode the scramble
words using a puzzle. The words formed is to be used in a sentence after decoding
them.
Comprehension (Reading out loud and integrating Direct Reading Thinking Activity )
Reading out loud encourages learners to participate and builds critical thinking
skills DRTA is an effective way of teaching reading Comprehension that develop a
high order thinking skills. This is more on predicting possible outcomes that surely is
meaningful and activates prior knowledge. This also adhere with making used of art
of questioning which covers from literal, inferential and Critical questions.

Project Objectives:
This innovative program aimed to develop the following:
 Equip learners with the necessary literacy skillsthat a 1st grade learner
must possess.
 Improve the learners achievements in reading.
 Make use of instructional Time for providing various opportunities in
reading.
 Promotes the love for reading.
