This time we will have a group activity.

Okay that’s great! Our activity for today
is entitled “WORD SEARCH”.

Activity 1: WORD SEARCH


Directions:
 You will be group into 3.
 Each group will be given a paper to
write each word you find in the grid.
 Search up, down, forward,
backward and on the diagonal to
find the hidden words. One
member of the group will read the
words that they found.
 You will be given 2 minutes to do
this activity.

C. Abstraction
Now, let’s discuss how to read the
words with affixes.

What are parts of a word?


The part of a words are root words
and affixes.

Root Words/Salitang-ugat- is the


simplest form of a word. It is a base
word which is combined with affixes to
form a new word.

Examples: Root Word


Lovely----------love
Noted----------note
Subsoil--------soil
Irregular-------regular

Affixes/Panlapi- are syllables or


letters added to the beginning or need
of a root word to form a new word.

Examples: Affixes
Lovely----------(-ly)
Noted-----------(-d)
Subsoil--------(sub-)
Irregular-------(ir-)
Illegally--------(il-) and (-ly)
Two Types of Affixes

 Prefix
- a word part or syllable
attached at the beginning
of a root word.

Examples:
Underwater
Untidy
Incomplete
Review
Unhappy

 Suffix
- a word part or syllable
attached at the end of a
root word.

Examples:
Freshness
Watchful
Touchable
National
Selfish
Playlet

 Now, we have an activity that is
called” Magic Changes”
 I will divide the class into 3 groups.
 Directions:
 Each group are provided
by a materials that will be
answered by the pupils,
then all you have to do is
to identify the given
words by its “Root words”
and ‘Affixes”.
 If your group are finish
answering one member
will shout the word
“WE’RE DONE!”.
 Do this activity in just 3
minutes, then present
your output.
