CONTENT Main : 2.1 Communicate simple information intelligibly.
STANDARD Complementary: 1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of familiar contexts.

Main : 2.1.2 Find out about and describe basic everyday routines.
LEARNING
Complementary: 1.2.5 Understand a wide range of short supported questions.
STANDARD:
Main : At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to ask and tell the time using the focus
language correctly.
OBJECTIVE:
Complementary: At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to listen and understand
questions of asking the time correctly.
SUCCESS
Pupils can tell the time shown in the toy clock.
CRITERIA
Pre-lesson:
1. Pupils sit in a circle and ask them to write a number between 1-12 on a piece of paper.
2. Give instructions like: Stand up if you have number 7. Jump if you have number 12.
3. Pupils listen and do the corresponding actions.
Lesson delivery:
1. Activity 1:
 Introduce telling the time (on the hour and half past) using the board or toy clocks if
available.
 Set the toy clock to different times and tell the time. Pupils listen and repeat. e.g. It’s
(one) o’clock. / It’s half past two.
 Set the clock again to different times and ask pupils What’s the time?
 Encourage pupils to answer It’s ____ o’clock./ It’s half past ______ .
2. Activity 2:
 Vocabulary: Have pupils to open their books to page 10 and point out the time in the
vocabulary section.
 Play the CD and have pupils point to the clocks and repeat. (track 13)
 Say the times in random order and have pupils repeat and point.
3. Activity 3:
ACTIVITY
 Grammar box: Read it aloud.
 Set the clock to different times and ask pupils what time it is.
4. Activity 4:
 Direct pupils’ attention to the picture of the two boys and ask them what they are doing.
 Play the CD and ask pupils to repeat chorally. (track 14)
 Divide pupils into pairs. Tell pupils to use a scrunched-up piece of paper to play the
game.Pupils take turns throwing the piece of paper on the pictures and asking and
answering questions about the time that the piece of paper has landed on.
Post-lesson:
1. Play What’s the time, Mr. Wolf. For instructions, see Optional 2 activity on Teacher’s Book
p.25.
Remedial : Pupils pick correct flashcards based on time shown by teacher.

Enrichment : Pupils asking time to their friends and they reply it.
