Outcome Reflection 1 – Writing and Producing in Multiple Ways with Art and Videos
1. How has this assignment helped you engage in your chosen outcome? Did you write
about one of the goals in the outcomes, or did you apply the skills talked about in each
one?
- For this Outcome Reflection, I will be reflecting on the Multiple Ways of Writing
outcome and will specifically be reflecting on the Reading Discussion 2
assignment. For this assignment, I had to write and produce in Multiple Ways and
integrate multimodality into my assignment to answer the questions the
assignment asked. For example, I had to make sure I included the image of art I
was going to describe and had to think about how I was incorporating the art
image into my assignment along with it’s description. I was able to both apply the
goal of multiple ways of writing into my assignment, along with talk about
multimodality and the different modes using Gagich’s “An Introduction to and
Strategies for Multimodal Composing”.
2. What is something, whether it be a concept or a personal realization, that you learned
while engaging in this assignment? Or, if you didn't learn anything, what did you find
useful about this exercise?
- While doing this exercise, I learned more about the importance of image
descriptions and how they can add meaning to an image. This is because normally
when reading, I skim through images and often don’t read the descriptions since I
normally find the writing to be more important. However, this assignment showed
me how the description of an image can add a lot to the meaning of it, and made
me realize that I should start reading the descriptions of images as otherwise I
may be missing out on important information.
