C. Lesson Proper
6. Made
“ You already know that PAST TENSE 7. Bought
is form by adding /-d/ or /-ed/ to the 8. Rode
base form of the verb. For regular 9. Was
verbs, add -ed to the root form of the 10. Read
verb (or just -d if the root form already
ends in an e) for example watch, you’ll
just add /ed/ at the end of it. Another
example is type, since it already ends
with ‘e’ you just need to add ‘d’ at the
end of it.
But for irregular verbs which we
already encounter in the activity we
had earlier, it somehow get more
complicated.
The simple past tense of some
irregular verbs looks exactly like the
root form for example put is also put,
cut is also cut in its past tense, set is
set cost is also cost, and hit is also hit.
For other irregular verbs, including the
verb to be, the simple past forms are
more erratic for example see is saw
build is built go is went do is did rise is
rose am/is/are is was/were. The good
news is that verbs in the simple past
tense (except for the verb to be) don’t
need to agree in number with their
subjects.
“Ok let’s see if you really understand
our topic for today”
