Background of the study

In today’s generation, technology has become an integral part of our

lives. It impacted our way of living and the way we interact with each other. It

is an ever evolving and is responsible for our changing lifestyle. Our life has

improved significantly due to the efficiency of technology. The stress has

lessened and time that our chores and work consume has improved due to

opportunities that technology gave us which we lack in the past. It's gadgets

also promote independent learning. Nowadays student can learn without the

assistance of their teachers and parents. The internet has become treasure

trove of information which we can access anytime and anywhere.

Review of Related literature

A gadget is a small tool or device with a specific useful purpose and

function. Gadgets tend to be more unusual or cleverly designed than normal

technology. In today’s life, tasks are maximized with the use of modern

gadgets. It is easier to accomplish daily tasks and people are also able to do

work with efficiency. One cannot even dare to imagine life without smart

phones, cell phones, laptops, tablets, iPods and so on (Tech Crates, 2012).

Today’s gadgets are one of the ways to make life more comfortable and easier.
Shy (2010) says that no one can deny the fact that gadgets have not only

simplified the lives of people but also made them more comfortable and

luxurious. Indeed, these gadgets really made a huge impact in people’s lives

and became part of it.

Statement of the problem

This study aims to determine the impact of the gadgets to the G11 CSS

Student

specifically this study aims to determine the impact of the gadgets to the G11

CSS Students;

1. What is the student's frequency of use of the following gadgets in learning?

a. Cellphone / Smartphone

b. Laptop

c. Computer and ;

d. Tablet

2. What are the impacts of the use of gadgets in learning process as perceived

by the students? Is it answerable by your participants? If not, then revised

this.

3. Is there a significant relationship between the frequency of use of

gadgets and the impact of gadgets?

- The relationship between time spent on using gadgets and academic

performance is a topic of interest among exploring this our relationship.

Scope and Delimitation

This study will only focus on the impact of gadgets in learning and study

habits of being ICT Students who are enrolled in computer systems servicing of

Victorias National High School based on the perceptions and manners of the

students in using gadgets as a tool that they can in their learning. The study

will include 102 ICT Student as our respondents who are currently enrolled

into the computer systems servicing strand during the school year 2023-2024.

Definitions of terms

The impact in relation to gadgets refers to the effects or consequences that the

use of gadgets can have on individuals, particularly children. Gadgets, such as

smartphones and tablets, have become an integral part of everyday life , , with

both adults and children using them for various purposes and limited used .

However, excessive use of gadgets, especially among children, can lead to

negative impacts on their development and well-being. These impacts include

changes in communication patterns, reduced social interaction, hindered

cognitive development, and disturbances in sleep patterns .It is important for

parents, caregivers, educators, and society as a whole to be aware of these


impacts and take measures to minimize the adverse effects of gadgets on

children . Additionally, impact counseling/therapy approaches can be used to

address the negative impacts of gadget use and promote self-regulation in

gadget utilization .
