Reflection Essay for Literature Review

I have found that this second paper helped me immerse myself deeper in the ocean of

academic research and so, now I have become more capable of getting into academic research.

The academic research envisages not the mere cramming of bookshelves with paper, but the

fusion of creativity and rationality. It is about carefully reviewing knowledge and determining

the sources value of a message and its information quality. Understandably, when I was

conducting reading for intermittent fasting, I was overwhelmed with the vast amount of

information. The “Article Analysis Worksheet” given by Dr. Nelson was a great tool I used to

help me disseminate knowledge about my topic among the scholars. The “Synthesis Outline

Worksheet” given by Dr. Nelson had great positive impact on my literature review. It helped me

organize my analysis of the scholarly conversation about my research topic and plot what I

needed to discuss in each section. Using the information, I learned will help me in future

research papers.

The activity of writing the essay, which is a collective document, emerged during the

process of the research. From writing the annotated bibliography I learned many things that

aided me in writing the literature review. For example, I was able to collect a vast amount of

information and summarize it into a few sentences. I believe this was also helpful in the

synthesis of all the peer-reviewed articles. The degree of the detail in adding these annotations

made this routine exhausting: not just because it required concise summaries, critical evaluation,

but also reflection of the source's connection to the topic. All in all, the process of writing the

literature review was beneficial for my writing and will continue to be so in the future.

Developing the major outlines of a researching analysis essay is more than gaining my

comprehension of a problem, it facilitated choices of the best search methods and writing skills.

There was no surprise when I precisely and systematic evaluated the sum total of research output

slicing my way through findings of each of the researchers to finally came up with the approach

for systematic information synthesis. In addition, the practice of adducing proofs created the

trend where I zoomed in on my persuasive abilities because it made it easier to convey difficult

messages in a logical fashion. At this point, getting these skills is a must in many subsequent

homework assignments, term papers, and the preparation of these papers. It will no doubt be

useful in the creation of the research position paper.

Interacting with Dr. Nelson was another part of the learning process as this was like

getting the information on which aspects needed practicing and which ones needed a greater

effort. My essay is opened in the logical way. The most important lesson I learnt throughout this

process is the way the feedback helped me in the editing process when I was making sure to see

my review through a clear lens for convenience purposes. In addition, the outline of the thesis

was focused on to become more representative for the main idea. She was what led me to the

path which eventually in this development process from the initial draft to the final version. In

addition, the instructor’s feedback provided with detailed individual comments and also required

for the improvement of the argumentation I was exercising in the analysis. It is significant to

consider that the delegates emphasized instances where they could have addressed issues by

adding more support to the suggested views or decide not to go along with them.

The significance of peer feedback which really was useful for change included more

evidence to back up each of the critical arguments that we presented in our initial draft. We

proceeded with Dr. Nelson’s “Peer-Review in class activity.” I observed in my review that I

needed to be clearer on my arguments. The ability of peers to review the works they have created

is not only important but at the same time triggers personal growth and builds a sense of unity.

Likewise, the fact that the peer review process urged me to be responsible for my data that was to

be of reliable and accurate nature was very essential to me. When I was offered to write feedback

on my classmates’ papers, it was quite an important lesson to me because I realized I had to do

the same job as they did, with the same dedication and be as careful as I would be on myself with

criticism. I was able to make changes to my introduction and properly cite. I was also able to use

more than one scholar per paragraph. These are but few of the myriad of examples of changes

made due to conferencing.

I found the most difficult task in this essay writing project to be of summarizing part of

the argument from various points of view in order to arrive at one big overall idea. Coming up

with an idea of the myriad of organizational techniques such as continuity and contrast was a

very tough challenge that tested my analytical abilities. To sum it up, this obstacle is the one that

kept me a bit on edge since it gave me a little bit of stress. Perhaps among all, editing and

rewriting was the least difficult stage because after the in-depth analysis was completed, it was

the part that was done most easily. Going over the grammar, spelling, word count, proper

citation, and format was simple enough once the synthesizing was completed.
