HEART:
Heart is a pumping organ made of muscles. It has a
job of pumping blood around the body. It consists of
following structures.

MAIN PARTS OF THE HEART:

1. Atria (left atrium and right atrium)
2. Ventricle (left ventricle and right ventricle)
3. Valves
FUNCTIONS OF THE MAIN PARTS OF THE HEART

The heart is divided into four chambers:

1. Atria:
The top two parts of the heart are called Atria. It is divided into two parts; left atrium and right atrium.

2. Ventricles:
The lower two parts of the heart at the bottom are called Ventricles; right ventricle and left ventricle.

I. Right Ventricle: It has thick walls. It pumps the blood to the lungs
II. Left Ventricle: It has very thick walls and it pumps the blood to the body except the lungs.

3. Valves:
Valves inside the heart stop blood flowing in the wrong direction. Because it is part of the body, the
heart has its own blood supply.
