Course Description:

This course is designed to develop & enhance the knowledge, skills,


& attitudes of a Computer Systems Service Technician, in accordance
with industry standards. It covers the basic and common competencies
in addition to the core competencies such as to install and configure
computers systems, set-up computer networks and servers and to
maintain and repair computer systems and networks.

 The training is based on curriculum developed from the
competency standards;

 Learning is modular in its structure;

 Training delivery is individualized and self-paced;

 Training is based on work that must be performed;

and the curriculum modules;

 Assessment is based in the collection of evidence of the

 Allows for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or current
competencies;

 Training allows for multiple entry and exit; and

 Approved training programs are nationally accredited.

Role of the CBT trainer
 Serves as team member to determine what
is to be learned.
 Evaluate students achievement
 Accepts responsibility along with the students
for the tasks learned or not learned.
Role of the CBT trainee
 Trainees compete against pre job standards and
not against other students and are graded on
achievement of the standards of criteria of each
task.
 Trainees know they will be rated mainly on
performance, while paper and pencil test will be
used mainly to check their knowledge.
• Trainees move freely in the workshop,
laboratory or training center.

• Trainees learn according to their interest,


needs and abilities – not according to
teachers timelines and expediency.

Qualification consists of competencies that must
possess to enable to install and configure
computers systems, set-up computer networks
and servers and to maintain and repair computer
systems and networks.

test, a performance test and an interview.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Refers to the acknowledgement of skills and


knowledge held as a result of formal training,
work experience and/or life experience.
In order to recognize such learning and skills for
Computer Systems Servicing NCII, a trainee needs to
provide sufficient evidence of his knowledge and skills
by submitting relevant documents and/or materials.
