Marlene Aguilar-Pollard on son Jason Ivler: "He is the price I pay for being

the kind of person I am."

By Mark Pimentel & Glen P. Sibonga

"Everything happens under the will of heaven. If
I lose Jason tomorrow... if he dies tomorrow, you
will find the same peace through my eyes. You
know, we are only instruments here. We are
intruments of God. We are instruments of higher
forces. You and I do not decide who lives or
dies," says Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, mother of
murder suspect Jason Ivler.

Freddie Aguilar.

Matatandaang noong January 18 ay nahuli si Jason
ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) matapos i-raid ang kanilang bahay sa Blue Ridge A subdivision,
Quezon City.

Presidential Chief of Staff Renato Ebarle Sr., matapos ang isang away-trapiko noong November 18, 2009

7 na T.G.I.S.

FLOATING THROUGH LIFE.
nitong sitwasyon.

"I don't feel... I don't know... I try to... feel but I don't feel," paputol-putol na tugon ni Marlene. "I'm just
floating through life right now. Waiting... wondering why this is happening to me, to my family, you
know."

"I believe that everything happens for a grand reason. I believe that there are greater forces up there
and you know, we are not totally in control of our lives. We are affected by greater and unseen forces.
And I humble myself to the will of God. You know, there's a reason why this is happening. I don't know
anyone... I have traveled to 36 countries, I've seen so much of the world. I have never met anyone as
beautiful as Jason," sagot ni Marlene.

CONVERSATION WITH JASON.

"You know, I told him when I saw him recently, I said to him, 'If you go, if a lose you, I don't know life
without you. I'll never know anyone like you.' Tapos sabi niya, 'But we will never be apart. I will never
leave your side no matter what happens. It would just be my body that they will take away from you, I
will remain with you forever.'

"Yesterday [Jan. 23], yun ang first time niyang makatayo. Kaya hindi ko maigalaw yung shoulder ko,
naka-cast kanina ito. Tapos sabi niya, 'Help me get up.' So, I helped him get up. Para ko siyang binuhat
na sundalo. And 'eto yung [puwesto niya].
And he told me how much he loves me. And I told him how
much I love him," lahad ni Marlene.

"Yes, yes. Sabi niya, 'I'm so sorry, I have caused you so much pain.' And I said, 'Don't, don't. It's not your
fault.'"

"My husband will tell you that I am one of the most clear-headed person he knows," sagot niya.

THE BODYGUARD.

"I have a bodyguard, Mark Hausser, he is British. He has
access to everything. He has access to car. He has access to... if there's a gun there. He has access in and
out of my house. They [Mark and Jason] are in the same quarters," sabi niya.

"I found out that he was not home that evening.

"He's been employed by me for almost two years."

"He wasn't with me," sagot niya.

"Actually, he even told me, 'Ma'am, I'm gonna ask someone in England to send me five thousand
dollars to put in your account because I look like Jason. I might need a lawyer also.' That is what
he said to me."

Kailan ito sinabi sa kanya ni Mark?

"After the incident."

INTELLIGENT, NOT INSANE.
form of deception or cover-up." Ano ang comment niya rito?

"It is... you know, karapatan po nilang isipin yun," sagot ni Marlene.

Pero ilalaban niya ba ito sa korte?

"Yes."

Para sa kanyang anak?

"Yes. For the Philippines."

niya rito?

"Because most people have average mind. That's not me. That's factual. That's fact," sagot niya.

Sinabi niya rin ba na, "Because I'm intelligent, it doesn't make me insane?"

"No, it doesn't make you insane," sagot ng ina ni Jason. "What I said is geniuses, a borderline,
insane. But it doesn't make you insane. You know, if you are not understood. You know, when
people do not understand you, they think you're insane. How do you make somebody seven years
old understand Algebra? It's the same thing."

"Boy, I have published 11 to 12 titles defending Philippine art and culture. All my books are
about art and culture because I believe that is the soul of our nation. I believe that our problem in
the Philippines is not money, but our soul. Our art and culture represent our soul. I have received
awards and citations both local and international.

"So, yung mga tumatawag po sa akin ng baliw, gusto ko lang pong malaman, what have they done for
their country recently? My first novel, Wars of Heaven, has received excellent reviews in the States, in
Eurpoe and here. And my book is my fight, you know, with America for a better Philippines. And if my
people... if the Filipino people would see that as insane, then let it be."

PAIN AND ANGER.
na, "Kill me! Kill me!" Is this true?

"Yeah, because he believes that his death will give me strength, you know. He is the price I pay
for being the kind of person I am," sabi ni Marlene.

pain and anger. Paano niya ipapaliwanag ito?

"There's so much pain. Yes, there's anger. There is pain because Jason's father [Robert Ivler] was
killed when he [Jason] was two and a half years old. He was found dead in a hotel in Bangkok.
He was killed by a professional killer."

MISTAKEN IDENTITY.

"Yes, I heard about it.

How does she react to that?

"Everything happens under the will of heaven. If I lose Jason tomorrow... if he dies tomorrow,
you will find the same peace through my eyes. You know, we are only instruments here. We are
intruments of God. We are instruments of higher forces. You and I do not decide who lives or
dies."

Ano ang dasal niya ngayon sa Diyos?

"That we stop hating."

"Jason, the whole world could turn upside down. I love you always, every minute of the day.
And nothing can ever change that," sambit niya.
