Activity 1
Classroom activity: Say it right
Content Standard:
By the end of the year 6 primary schooling, pupils will be able to listen and respond
appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of purposes.
Learning Standard:
1.1.3, 1.1.4
Objective: Identify the pictures correctly
Materials:
1) Picture cards
2) 4 dice
Instructions:
1) Organise the pupils into groups.
2) Prepare 2 sets of the numbered picture cards for each group. (Appendix 3)
3) Place all the pictures face down in the centre of each group.
4) Give each group 2 dice (numbered 1 to 4). 2 sides of each dice are blank.
5) Explain and demonstrate how the game is carried out.
6) Pupils take turns to throw the 2 dice. Total up the numbers on both dice.
7) Based on the number, pupil picks up a card from the sets with the same number.
8) Pupil holds up and says the word.
9) Pupil misses a turn if there is no number on both dice.
10) The pupil with the most pictures wins.

Objective: Identify and articulate words
Materials:

Instructions:

Put up the poem chart.


Organise pupils into two groups.
Read the poem line by line. Pupils repeat.
Emphasize on the focus words.
Groups take turns to identify and say the words with the /b/ sound from the poem.
Show Picture 1 and get pupils to talk about the picture. (Appendix 1).
Show the sentence/phrase strips and read them aloud. (Appendix 4).

Pupils repeat each sentence/phrase twice.
9) Repeat the steps a to c for the rest of the poem. (Appendix 2)
10) Recite the poem line by line and pupils follow.
11) Pupils recite the poem.

Activity 3
Classroom activity: Write me right
Content Standard:
By the end of the year 6 primary schooling, pupils will be able to form letters and words in
neat legible print including cursive writing.

By the end of the year 6 primary schooling, pupils will be able to enjoy and appreciate
rhymes, poems and songs.
