While the general hunting
season got underway this
morning with the kids’
special two-day deer
hunt, the Fort Peck Tribes
Enrolled Member Buffalo
Hunt got underway on
September 15th. Ray
Grey Bull harvested this
massive bull with his 7mm
Remington mag (a single
shot in the neck dropped it
on the spot) on a crisp and
cool Wednesday morning.
Ray brought it in to Hi-
Line Meats where Auzzy
Austin wasted no time in
the process of skinning
it out. While it’s not the
largest bull he’s dealt with,
it’s definitely bigger than
most. He guessed that it
will be between 800-900
pounds on the rail (once
skinned out and put in the
cooler). The largest one
he has processed was a
little over 1,200 pounds on
the rail. It’s going to keep
the burger grinder busy,
as Auzzy says, “You can’t
get a tender cut of meet
off of these big boys.”

Resist U.S. A.G.’s Attack on Parents
I was shocked to learn last week that U.S. Attorney General
Merrick Garland has directed the FBI and federal prosecutors
to charge parents who speak up at school board meetings under
domestic terrorism and civil rights laws. Acting U.S. Attorney for
Montana Leif Johnson delivered this message to the Montana County
Attorneys Association, and has provided a follow-up letter explaining
the federal claim of urgency in this matter.
As a local prosecutor enforcing Montana state laws, I have
worked with federal agents and prosecutors over the years to target
truly federal, interstate criminals. I have helped ATF agents investigate
and build cases of convicted felons in possession of firearms. I have
worked with FBI and DEA agents to take down inter-state and
indeed international drug traffickers. And I have even helped ICE
Weather lookin’ officials detain and deport an illegal alien. Each step of the way, I have
