DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATH IV

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard Demonstrates understanding of the time and
circumstance.
B. Performance Standard The student is able to apply knowledge of time and
circumference in mathematical problems and real-life
situations.
C. Learning Competencies By the end of the lesson;

1. All student should be able to convert time using

a.m notation to the twenty-four-hour clock.
2. Most student should be able convert between
times given in 12 and 24 hours.
3. Some student should be able to compare and
order times given in either 12 or 24 hour notation.

II. CONTENT Measures time using a 12-hour and a 24-hour clock.

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References https://www.google.com/
B. Other Learning Resources

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or The teacher will present the new lesson for today which is
presenting the new lesson all about measures time using a 12-hour and a 24-hour
clock.

B. Establishing a purpose for the Time occurs in many different formats in the real world, and it is
lesson important to understand the differences and similarities of
these formats. Being able to calculate how long something is
going to take, or how much free time we have to do a task
between two events means we can plan accordingly and
organize our time and our daily lives.

C. Presenting examples/instances The teacher will show an example to the students then
for the lesson she will ask some questions.
1. From what you see to this picture what time is it?
2. What hour clock is it?

1. How about this, what time is it?

2. What hour clock is it?
I have an example here.

D. Discussing new concepts and Today let’s measures time using a 12-hour and a 24-hour
practicing new skills clock.
There are two ways of telling the time:
First a 12-hour clock runs from 1am to 12 noon and then
from 1pm to 12 midnight. A 12-hour clock is looks like this.

And second the 24-hour clock uses the numbers 00:00 to

23:59 (midnight is 00:00). Which is looks like this.
E. Practicing new Lessons learned The teacher show 10 flash card, each of it contain a time .
The student will be able to convert a time from 12-hour to
24-hour clock.

1. 7:12 am =
2. 2:43 pm=
3. 9:24 am=
4. 6:39 pm=
5. 10:05 pm=
6. 11:00 pm=
7. 9:30 pm=
8. 1:00 pm=
9. 12:00 am=
10. 6:30 pm=
F. Developing mastery (Leads to The teacher challenges her student to answer a problem-
Formative Assessment 3) solving involving time. The first representative that give
the correct answer will get 100 points.
QUESTION:
In a sailboat race, the winning boat completed two
distances in the following times: 2 min 22 seconds
and 3 min 45 seconds.  How much time did it take the
sailboat to finish from the beginning to the end?

G. Finding practical applications of The teacher ask question:

concepts and skills in daily living 1. Why is it important to learn the 12-hour clock and
24-hour clock?
2. Is it necessary for us to learn how to read the time?
Why?
H. Making generalizations and The teacher ask question: What are the two way of telling
abstractions about the lesson the time?
The teacher will wrap-up the concepts by briefly recalling the
two ways of telling time.
First a 12-hour clock runs from 1am to 12 noon and then
from 1pm to 12 midnight. A 12-hour clock is looks like this.
And second the 24-hour clock uses the numbers 00:00 to
23:59 (midnight is 00:00).
I. Evaluating learning Read and answer each question.

Jack had a bad morning yesterday.

1. Jack usually wakes up at 7 o’clock in the morning.
Yesterday, he got up 53 minutes later than usual.
What time did Jack wake up?
2. Since he got up late, Jack could not take his usual
train. He took the next train at twenty pasts eight in
the morning, which was 40 minutes later than his
usual train. What time is his usual train?
3. The train ride usually takes half an hour, but there
was a 25 minutes delay. How many minutes was
the train ride yesterday?
4. Jack arrived at his office at 9:25 in the morning; his
meeting with the client was scheduled at a quarter
to ten in the morning. How many minutes did he
have to prepare for the meeting?
5. However, his client was 93 minutes late!  At what
time did the meeting start?
6. When he got home, Jack slept for 3 hours.  How
many minutes did he sleep?
