Activities
Drill Identify the following formula of a chemical compound?
1. CO2
2. H2O
3. NaCl

WORD SEARCH

Motivation Students will search all the name of food that they found in the word puzzle.

Presentation

 What are the names of food that you searched in the word puzzle?
 What are the nutrients that these foods can give us?
Tell the students that these foods are some of the sources of proteins.

Students will be viewing an interactive video about Proteins and nucleic acids.

ACTIVITY

d. Analysis Students will be viewing an interactive video proteins and nucleic acids.
1. Based from the video, what is proteins?
2. How do proteins are being classified according to structure?
3. Which function does a nucleic acid perform in a human’s
body? What do we call its building blocks?
4. Why are nucleic acids very important in our biological system?
e. Abstraction What are Proteins?
Discussion

What are the different structure of protiens?

What are the different types of proteins and its functions?

What is nucleic acid?

Which function does a nucleic acid perform in a human’s

Generalization body? What do we call its building blocks?

Class will share in random, the concepts they had learned from the day’s lesson.
Generalization:
Proteins are chains of amino acids. They serve as structural components in animals,
transporters of substances in the body, antibodies, and biological catalysts.
Nucleic acids are the large biomolecules that include the deoxyribonucleic acid
(DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). These polymeric macromolecules are made from
monomers known as nucleotides, the building blocks of nucleic acids.
f. Application Students will make a list of sources of proteins in their diet for a week.
Question:
Does it give the right amount of proteins you body needs? Explain.
IV. Direction: Read the given situation and answer the question that is being asked.
EVALUATION COVID-19 pandemic is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered
coronavirus. Health crisis this time is the greatest challenge faced by everyone.
Nutrition plays a vital role in boosting the immune system. In relation to the concept of
biomolecules, how do proteins and nucleic acids help fight againstCOVID-19?

V. ASSIGNMENT 1. What is chemical reaction?

2. How do chemical reactions occur?
