They will both be given 2 minutes each to guess the word.

Listening Skills

- Listening skills are skills that contribute to your ability to


receive information when communicating with others
accurately.

Two Types of Listening Strategies

Top Down

- Listener-based strategies
- The listener uses background knowledge of the topic

Bottom-Up

- Text-based strategies
- The listener attempts to make sense of the language sound by
sound or word by word

(The rest of the discussion will be presented by the teacher.)

1. Asking and listening for directions to get somewhere.


2. Writing down specific details and notes from a lecture about a

were both in Grade 6.
4. You learned the difference between PROject and proJECT
because you listened well.
5. Tuning into a review of a new movie on the radio you have not
watched yet.
