Spektrometry
kwadrupolowe
Spektrometry te mogą być wyposażone
w różne źródła jonów, najczęściej jest to:
FAB, EI lub ESI. Analizatory
kwadrupolowe charakteryzują się
stosunkowo małą rozdzielczością (rzędu
2000) i czułością. Mimo to doskonale
nadają się do wielu zastosowań.
Spektrometry takie nie wymagają do
pracy zbyt wysokiej próżni, a co za tym
idzie dużych i kosztownych systemów
pomp. Niewielkie rozmiary i
umiarkowana cena przyczyniły się do ich
popularności. Urządzenia takie są często
stosowane w laboratoriach chemicznych,
biochemicznych i analizy zanieczyszczeń
środowiska. Spektrometry tego typu są
powszechnie łączone z chromatografami
gazowymi i cieczowymi. Obecnie
produkowane są także przenośne
urządzenia tego typu (mieszczące się w
bagażniku samochodu). Urządzenia takie
są często sprzężone z chromatografami
gazowymi i mogą być stosowane do
wykrywania broni chemicznej,
zanieczyszczeń środowiska, narkotyków
itp.[45]
Spektrometr MALDI-TOF ze zwierciadłem jonowym.
Własność IBB PAN
MALDI-TOF
Jedną z częściej stosowanych
konfiguracji spektrometrów mas jest
połączenie źródła jonów MALDI i
analizatora TOF (MALDI-TOF). W
instrumentach tego typu stosuje się
analizatory TOF ze zwierciadłem
jonowym lub bez zwierciadła.
Instrumenty bez zwierciadła umożliwiają
detekcję mas cząsteczkowych do
kilkuset tysięcy daltonów.
