This module contains activities that will improve your

listening skill to understand and interpret messages.
In this module, there are listening activities that
provide comprehension questions and interesting
exercises to lead you to identify important details in
expository texts you have listened to.

What’s In

Listening is not only hearing. Listening involves the

mind to understand what others are saying. Just like in
reading, listening also involves comprehension by
analyzing what is being said to you.

It includes knowing the significant facts to enable you

to answer questions about the texts you have listened to.

4 CO_Q3_ENGLISH2_Module1
Sample questions can be:
 Who were the characters?
 Where did the story happen?
 When did it happen?
 What were some important events that took
place in the story?

Frontliners
by Mabelle A. Fababier

“Father will be here

anytime soon!” exclaimed
Kaiser excitedly as he woke
up early that morning.
“He can’t come home today,” Mother replied.
“But why? It is his day-off today,” he sobbed.
“Father can’t be with us for a while because he is a
frontliner. His commanding officer asked him to extend his
duty. He will be here next weekend,” explained Mother.
“What is a frontliner, Mother?” asked Kaiser.
“A frontliner is a person who works in our community
for a special purpose. Soldiers, along with policemen, like
your Father, are frontliners in keeping our country safe and
peaceful. Doctors are frontliners, too. They heal sick
people. Nurses, like Tito Emil, who works at President
Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital, assist the doctors.
Farmers and fishermen who provide food on our table are
also frontliners. In school, teachers are the frontliners.
They encourage learners, like you, to do learning activities
needed for your education.
All of them help build our nation to be a beautiful
place to live in,” Mother told his son.
“I want to be a frontliner, too,” said Kaiser.
