Activity 3- Human Dignity

1. Do you agree that one’s dignity is based on what one is and not on what one has?
Explain in 3 sentences. (5 pts)
Answer.
Yes, I do agree, because I do believe one’s dignity is not based on what one
has because our nothingness or meaning, like mine, is an average type of cost of
living in our society, wherein I cannot call myself rich or my family, but I do
believe that despite what we have, it doesn’t mean that our dignity will be defined
as an average as well based on what we have. Because when we say dignity, it
means it is what we are—the way we act, the way we do good or great things, the
way we treat people, and the way we behave. You can do well in every way
despite what you have; if you don’t have anything, you can still do great by doing
things that align with what God calls goodness, because goodness is not all about
what you have; it is all about who you are and the way you respect yourself and
others in every action you take.

2. According to our discussion, in what way is the human person God’s

image? Explain in 3-5 sentences. (10 pts)
Answer.
Based on what I understand from our discussion, the human person becomes
God’s image because we are created differently among his creations. Humans have
been given a chance to see and understand the beauty of God's creation; humans
have the ability to think, to distinguish goodness from evil, to make decisions, and to
evaluate what good or bad decision he or she will make. Humans have the freedom
to decide whether or not to completely embody their potential to be godlike.
Humans can also recognize the beauty of God's presence and image in his creation
and strive to be like him in all of his beauty. Also, as human beings, we have the
ability to be good, to be true, and to be beautiful as God.

3. How do you show respect for your dignity and the dignity of others? Explain in
3 sentences. (5 pts)
Answer.
I show my respect for dignity for myself and for others by constantly giving
them respect and appreciation the way I want to be respected and dignified.
Oftentimes, I respect their personalities, both the good and bad sides; I value their
points of view; and I show them that they matter. And most importantly, I exhibit
my sense of respect for dignity by giving them the respect that they deserve, not
by how they treat me but because he or she is a man of my kind that God has
created.

4. Compose a prayer showing God your gratitude for your dignity as a child of

God. 3-5 sentences. (10 pts)
Answer.
The dignity of being your child is a gift from you, Lord, and I am grateful.
Thank you for providing me with more than I could ever have imagined after
receiving the dignity to be your child, Lord. You have surrounded me with people
who love me, care for me, and always look out for me. I am truly happy to have
been given the opportunity to have that dignity, O Lord. You have given me family
and friends who reward me every day with wonderful words and deeds. Amen.
