OPENING
1. Reasons to choose Faculty of foreign languages (HaUI) as an
internship site
Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) is one of the best institutions in the
country for scientific and technology education, and the faculty of foreign
language is a vital aspect of international collaboration and innovation. I
was trained from basic to complex while at this school, not only having
basic knowledge of the industry but also specialized knowledge (English
skills, IELTS certification exam preparation, translation, and other
theoretical and practical subjects), translation, and other theoretical and
practical subjects. Before I graduate, I decided to conduct an internship
here to gain experience and improve myself as well as the desire to stick
with the faculty of foreign language and the teachers here. I owe a debt of
gratitude to both the professors and the assigned teachers. My expertise
has grown as a result of the effort.
2. Brief introduction about internship at Faculty of foreign languages
(HaUI)
I was astonished and ashamed when I did my first week of internship as
an English teaching assistant, because this is a professional position that
will demonstrate my skills and knowledges, whether I am working or not.
Fortunately, owing to the passion and kindness of the teacher who
assigned the assignment, I conquered the implementation process and
became accustomed to this job. I learnt a lot about culture, style, working
attitude, and initiative as a result of my internship. In addition, I was
capable of recognizing and correcting errors, as well as appreciating the
value of research and work.
3. Practicum report structure
There are 5 significant parts in my report which are Practicum report,
Translation practice, Conclusion, References and Appendix.

CHAPTER I: PRACTICUM REPORT
1. Overview
In the faculty of foreign languages, I had the chance to work with both
professors and students. I just received comments and supervision from the
teachers, and I was able to assist pupils in learning English. The school has made
it possible for us to practice online because to the effect of the covid-19
epidemic. Although the covid-19 had a significant impact on teacher' and
students' work and studies, I believe that increased knowledge and a positive
mindset can overcome any obstacles. I will show how I adjusted and addressed
the problem in the sections below.

2. Internship site introduction

- Name: Faculty of foreign languages at Ha Noi University of Industry
- Address: Base no 1, 289, Cau Dien Street, Minh Khai Ward, Bac Tu
Liem District, Ha Noi

- HaUI at a glance:
Hanoi University of Industry is one of the greatest science-
engineering, technology, electronics, tourism, and foreign language
training colleges in the country. With a team of experienced lecturers and
competent associate professors, my school has a tradition of more than
120 years of establishment with the purpose of being able to develop
technical human resources to serve the country, and many graduates have
good careers. Thousands of students enrol each year to study and work in
this city. The main campus is located in Minh Khai ward, Hanoi, the

2
second campus is located in Tay Tuu ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi,
and the third campus is located in Phu Ly sub district, Ha Nam province.

(This is the headquarters where I worked as an internship site)

In a world where campus number one is the most essential,
attracting many talented instructors and collaborating with foreigners,
English Language is an industry that cannot be overlooked when
discussing collaboration. I've been studying here for four years and
believe the faculty to be highly knowledgeable in teaching pupils.
Students may also study English for free from native speakers and practice
in classes equipped with current technology, which will help them achieve
good results in foreign language acquisition as well as practice computer
skills. In addition, extracurricular activities to practice English are also
organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, such as practice with the
E4U club, leisure, and learning activities of lecturers and teaching
assistants.

3. Internship description
- Position: English teaching Assistant

- Team leader: Nguyen Thi Thanh Tung – Tel: 0983 865 443

- Email:

- Job description:

Unlike translating and translating, my internship was as an English

teacher's assistant, which is similar to an English teacher. Of which, it
assists and teaches students new information, but also differs from a
lecturer in that the teacher/teacher requires professionalism in teaching as
well as a broad knowledge of the subject, whereas the teaching assistant's
role is to assist the lecturer and tutor the students during the lesson.
Generally, I am a senior, but I would like to pursue a career as a teaching
assistant because I want to work in groups with other students, assists
them in developing similar qualities to mine. The teacher would be
watching over my work.

Despite the fact that I only practiced for six weeks, I was really
impressed during that period and was able to complete a large portion of
the teacher's work. At first, to help others learn, we must first learn and
master the knowledge. When the teacher asked me to study online and do
my homework online before coming to class, I had a moment of
hesitation, but then I realized that I wanted to help others learn, I must first
learn and master the knowledge. Secondly, I was also responsible for self-
evaluation and reporting on what I learned, such as my strengths, flaws,
and areas for improvement. The work of preparing documents, such as
locating articles for test questions and generating exam questions for
students, goes hand in hand with the primary report. I had to hand in my
work to my instructor on time at the start of the week so that she may send
me the assignment for the following week. However,I got used to writing

4
documents, I not feeling pressed to learn the technology. See the
Appendix to get a sense of what my work is like. Attending class to assist
the teacher is the final and most important responsibility. I practiced
online during the translation period, so I had to take online lessons as well.

4. Self-assessment
In this part, I would like to thoroughly report my performance during 6 weeks
internship.

4.1. Strengths
Students majoring in English are, on the whole, quite energetic and
nimble, and I am no exception when I have some of the strengths listed below. At
first , I am a proactive and adaptable employee. This is demonstrated by my
initiative in the workplace; if I do not understand a task, I am willing to seek
clarification from the designated teacher. As a result, I was able to accomplish
the task without difficulty conveniently. Second, My strong feature at work is my
excitement; I am highly focused and serious while I am working. Nothing is able
to divert my attention. When my instructor requested me to do an online
assignment to write a report, for example, I focused on finishing the job while
also sending the report to the teacher who had been assigned. My next strong
point is being honest and forthright. On one occasion, when I was incorrect on a
fourth-week task, the teacher noted, and I concurred that I was incorrect with the
prepared information. I truly apologized and offered to redo the job and return it
to the instructor as soon as possible because the request she made was clearly
incorrect. After that, I submitted the right material, and my work was accepted by
the teacher.

4.2. Weaknesses
As a new English teaching assistant with zero experience, I honestly say
that I made a bunch of mistakes in the process of internship.
First and foremost, I'd want to say that I'm not always powerful enough at
work. After completing the first week of internship, I was given the project for
the next week, which included studying, writing reports, and preparing materials

5
for class lectures. I was terrified because of the amount of work. Nevertheles,
such duties are relevant to the knowledge in which I study, I lacked the
confidence and guts to accomplish them as swiftly as possible. As a result,
because I had got used to being unfamiliar with the job deadline yet, I worked
slowly to accomplish the task.
Secondly, I am still lazy and slow in meeting deadlines. The task of
practicing once a week was not tough if I worked hard to do it, but I was still
indifferent and not really working hard. I often got used to "have your cloak to
make when it begins to rain" thus I was two days late (I have to submit the task
to my teacher on Monday but I only submit it on Wednesday). In fact, the
homework deadline when we study will be different from the work deadline
because if we are late for the assignment deadline, the teacher may deduct points,
whereas if we are late for the work deadline, the superior or Directors will see
low capacity and lose confidence in us when accepting us to work. Following
those deadlines, I determined to alter my mentality and working approach in
order to acclimate to the outside world once I graduated.
Thirdly, even though I am proactive, I'm not sure how to approach the
teacher. I made a mistake when I received the fourth week assignment;
particularly, the assigned teacher instructed me to look at the Mechanical English
content part in the e-learning section of the eop site, but I completed the material.
Basic Mechanical English 3's content. When I handed it in to my teacher, she
claimed I'd lost the substance, and I explained that I could not get into
Mechanical English, so I had to repeat the assignment. The extremely nice
assignment teacher, on the other hand, did not criticize me and instead offered
me the chance to retake the task and lend my account to access the content.
That's fantastic, but I'm still baffled by my error.
4.3. Solutions
From these mistakes, I think I should be more meticulous, stay focused
and work harder to cultivate experiences and improve employability skills. There
is a strategy to help me improve that is to work a little bit every day, which will
not put me under too much stress while also allowing me to work more

6
effectively. Moreover, I also need to modify my mentality and take more
responsibility for the task that has been allocated to me; doing a good job is a
positive thing. As a result, I had self-control in terms of time and a fair working
schedule, the task was done on time, and the assigned instructor was also pleased
in the final weeks.

4.4. Recommendations
From my perspective, while the covid-19 epidemic has had a significant
impact, the internship term is just six weeks long, and many students must
practice online, so the internship outcomes may be influenced in some way.
Therefore, I have come up with a few ideas to assist students in having a more
objective and efecttive experience. First of all, The school should relax the
registration period to allow students to practice. This would assist students in
finding an internship that is a good fit for their skills and psychologically prepare
them for the internship. Secondly, Faculty should provide a variety of activities
to assist students gain greater experience. If English teaching assistant
employment involve extracurricular activities, for example, organizing
extracurricular activities on class to practice English for English teaching
assistants to work can help them become more engaged while exhibiting their
talents. Students' and teaching asistants' outcomes will improve if they play
certain English-related games. As a result, English-related employment will not
only be less stressful, but also more desired.
(In regards to the business comments part, I wanted my teacher to help
me give a few comments to learn and improve on. Nevertheless, I have not
received a comment from the teacher yet) .

CHAPTER III: CONCLUSION
Despite the fact that my internship was only a few weeks long, it provided
me with a wealth of valuable experience. I imagined a rich and intriguing career
connected to English. As a result, it helped me know the difficulties of life and
the pressure of the work deal. people often say that "Study goes as a pair with
practice" means that learning is an important factor in creating a talent, but
practice is the application of what we have learned. And I realized how accurate
that statement is, if I want to teach others to learn English, I must first study and
understand it. At the same time, I also have to practice to show my ability to
what extent. In addition, I have understood that to be successful, I have to work
hard, and learn from my mistakes. So I need to do my best. Through this, I would
like to thank the foreign language department for giving me the opportunity to
practice, and the teachers who were dedicated to teaching me when I did not
know. I hope that this internship will be meaningful during my 4 years of
university in particular and the students of Hanoi University of Industry in
general.
