A Detailed Lesson Plan in Language for Nursery 1

I. Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the Nursery 1 pupils are expected to do the following
with 80% proficiency:

A. Name the members of the family

B. Describe the responsibilities of each family members
C. Practice being responsible member of the family

II. Subject Matter

III. Procedure

A. Preparation

Prayer

Everybody, stand up.

Are you ready to pray?

But before we start, please make a line first and stand straight. Put your hands together
and let us sing our prayer song.

B. Motivation
The teacher will present a video entitled " Finger Family". The pupils will sit on the floor

Yes, it was all about the fingers and each finger has its name, right?
What are those names?
Alright! Those names that were mentioned earlier in the video are related to our
discussion today. Are you excited to learn another lesson?

C. Presentation
Today we will learn another lesson that is all about " Naming the members of the family"
and " Using actions Words to tell what family members do".
The teacher will show a house that have pictures of the members of the family inside and
show it to the pupils one by one.
Who do you think that live inside the house?
Very good! And now, are you ready to see who is inside the house?
Who do you think is this?

Very good!
This picture is the father. A Father is a male parent, we called them Daddy, Papa or Tatay.
Now I have here a picture, can you tell me what does the father do?

Alright! The picture is a father that is police man. He is the one who worked hard to provide
and support the needs of the family. A father could also be a doctor, carpenter, barber,
and a janitor.
Do you know what does your father do?
Wow, that's great!
Like in our family, my father is a barber and he is working hard to support our needs,
that's why I am very thankful to my father.
Again, what does the father do?
Alright!
How about this picture? Who do you think is this?

Good job!
A mother is a female parent, we called them Mommy, Mama, or Nanay. How do you call
your mother?
Okay very good!
And now, let us take a look with this picture, what does the mother do?

Very good! The mother is the one who cook and prepare foods to eat. They also wash
our clothes, clean the house and do other household chores. But sometimes a mother
can also work for the family, like she can be a doctor, attorney, teacher, waitress and
many more.
Did you know what's the work of your mother?
Wow, that’s great!
Like in our family, my mother is a vendor and also, she always cooked delicious foods
and take good care of us.
Again kids, what does the mother do?

Let's move on the next picture. Who do you think is this?

Yes, this is the brother, brother is your sibling. It could be your big brother or baby brother.
Now who among you here has a brother?
That's good to hear. Like me, I have also two brothers and I love them both so much.
Now, take a look with this picture. What does the brother do?

Very good! The brother is watering the plants and he is the one who help the father or
mother to do heavy works at home. He also cleans the yards and fetch some water.
Again, what does the brother do?
How about this next picture?

Very good! This is the sister, it's your female sibling. We also call them ate or baby sister.
Who among you here have sisters?
Wow, that's great!
Now, can you tell me what does sister do?

Yes, that's right, the sister is the one who help the mother to do the household chores.
Like washing the dishes, washing clothes, cleaning the house, cooking foods and even
taking care of other siblings.
Again, what does the sister do?
Okay good job!

Now take a look with the last family member, who is this?

Yes! This is the baby, the baby is the youngest child in the family. It gives so much joy to
the parents and other siblings. Who among you here have baby in the family?
Wow, that is adorable!
Now can you tell me what does the baby do?

Yes, that's right, babies love playing toys. But sometimes babies also love crying
especially when they are hungry and they want to drink milk. However, we love babies,
right?
Okay very good everybody!
You were able to know the members of the family.
Okay kids, we discussed about the members in the family. We know the different names
of a person. Those are the Father, Mother, Brother, Sister and Baby. And these are called
" name words".
Again, can you say name words.
Good job!
And please remember kids that sometimes our family doesn't have mother, father,
brother, sister, or baby and that is very okay. Sometimes we have other family members
at home like our grandpa or Lolo, grandma or Lola and even we have our uncle and tita.
Do you have them in your family?
Wow, that's great!
D. Comparison and Abstract
Now let us do an activity. Are you excited?
I have here strips of paper that consist of name words the " Father, Mother, Brother,
Brother, Sister and Baby". I will paste it on the board. Meanwhile, I have here also different
pictures of a person. What are you going to do is you will put the picture on the correct
name word? Is that clear?
I will only call those pupils that are behaving and I will give them surprise later.

D. Generalization

E. Application
Now, let us have another activity. Are you ready?
I have here pictures of a person that are doing actions or works. What you are going to
do is to choose the correct picture of name words. Now, let us take a look with these
pictures.

How about this picture? Who is the girl that washing the dishes, is it the mother or sister?

Who is in the picture, is it the brother or baby?

Who do you think is in the picture that washing the clothes, is it the mother or father?

You answered the activity correctly. And now everybody, stand up and put your hands at
the back. Go to your chair slowly and silently. We are going to answer the activity in your
worksheets.
