6.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

6.1 Below provide the Specific information of the Equipment, Tools & Instrument deployed to
carry out the work safely and effectively.

6.1.1 Excavator -1no

6.1.2 Steel Rectangular tube with 2 supports -1 no

6.1.3 25mm thick rigid steel plate of 450mm dia -1no

6.1.4 Hydraulic Pressure jack with calibrated dial gauge -1no

6.1.5 Calibrates dial gauge “ELE” for monitoring settlement – 3no

6.1.6 Aluminum sprit level – 1no

6.1.7 Hand Tools

6.1.8 Dial gauge Arms

6.1.9 3m long pipe for dial gauges

7.0 METHODS AND PROCEDURES

The Plate load test is to conducted @ the proposed foundation level.

7.1.1 Identify the required place with the Consultant engineer for the Load Test, No. of location that the
test to be carried out is 3 Nos, as per specification and drawing.

7.1.2 A circular area of 100-120 cm dia. should be trimmed flat according to the selected size of the plate.
Special care should be taken to obtain horizontal trimmed surface so that difference of settlement
values measured by three gauges could be minimized.

7.1.3 The plate should be rigid and normally flat on the underside. A mild steel plate used as a load bearing
plate & thickness should be least 25mm thickness and size of plate is 450mm dia.

7.1.4 The net allowable bearing capacity for the foundation is 500KN / sq.m.

loading
system is adopted by using hydraulic jack to the rear side
of loaded truck as shown.

7.1.6 The loading from the truck to the hydraulic jack should be via the loading frame fixed to the rear side
of the truck.

7.1.7 The longitudinal axis of the loading column and the center of the plate shall be coincident: tendency
for the plat to tilt will be resisted.

7.1.8 Dial gauges shall be readable to + or – 0.01 mm.

7.1.9 No activity should be carried out near to the load testing Ares during the test. Take all the necessary
care to avoid vibrations or shocks that could affect the results.

7.1.10 Records shall be maintained during loading and unloading by the laboratory. Plot these values of
settlement against the applied pressure.

See below sample test worksheet.
