produce more copies of sculpture with
intricate designs such as bells, boxes and

D. APPLICATION
ACTIVITY: ART ATTACK! SOAP CARVING

- This is an individual activity.

- You will be given 30 minutes to finish
your work. Is that clear, class? Yes, Ma’am.
- Okay, the following are the material
needed in your activity.

Materials:
1. Perla soap
2. Toothpick
3. Pencil
4. Nail pusher
5. Paper clip
6. Bond papers
7. Towel

- Did you bring your materials, class? Yes, Ma’am.

Procedures:
1. Think a subject/design you want to carve.
2. Gather your materials together, as
mentioned, you will need some soap,
Toothpick, a sharp pencil, a nail pusher, a
paper clip, and bond papers.
3. Lay a sheet of bond paper on your work
surface, place the soap bar on it and trace
the outline of the soap. This is what you will
use for the template.
4. Now draw the image of what you want to
carve inside the shape of the soap. Be sure
to draw it exactly as you want it on the
carving.
5. Using a pair of scissors, cut out your image,
lay it on top of the bar of soap, and use the
pencil to trace the image onto the shape.
You will need to dig into the soap slightly
to get a proper outline.
6. Use your nail pusher to cut away the pieces
of soap outside the design. Don’t slice off
large chunks at a time. Continue doing this
until the design is all you have left.
7. Smooth the design out with a paper clip.
Glide over it, removing any rough edges.
8. Wet the towel and wipe over the design to
remove any particles remaining on the
soap.
