1. Translate paying attention to the adequacy of translation
Є в нас такий вираз: "Піти по-англійськи". Вживають його тоді коли людина хоче залишити вечірку,
не порушивши її ходу, не потурбувавши aні господаря, aні гостей. Не берусь стверджувати, що таке
правило існує у Великобританії, але в тому, що в цих словах є певний сенс, могла переконатися
перша українська Антарктична експедиція, що прийняла від британців їх славетну полярну станцію
"Фарадей". Господарі грунтовно підготували першу групу наших полярників, чемно попрощалися,
навіть заплакали, коли їхній стяг спустився з щогли і його місце зайняв наш, взяли з собою тільки свій
прапор і відбули. Поставили перед наступниками лише дві вимоги – проводити досліди з тією ж
ретельністю, з якою це робили протягом 40 років самі британці, і не забруднювати весільно-біле
вбрання шостого континенту.
Це знайшло у наших хлопців повну підтримку. Вони не пролили жодної краплини мастил, не
дозволили собі курнути на свіжому повітрі так, щоб вітер розніс по снігу попіл. Рівень досліджень
наших фахівців викликав схвальні відгуки науковців багатьох країн. Серед радісних – відкриття, які
дозволяють сподіватися на нові родовища корисних копалин, а також цікаві висновки щодо рибних
багатств тутешніх морів. Були й сумні: озоновий шар надзвичайно змарнів.
Континент все більше приваблює мандрівників та романтиків. Тільки на українську станцію
"Академік Вернадський" за одне літо прибуло 68 яхт! Хто не мріяв сфотографуватися в обіймах
справжнього пінгвіна?
Перші дванадцятеро українських зимівників вже прибули з далекого континенту. Це була суто
чоловіча компанія. Наступна експедиція вирішила інакше – у її складі чотири чарівні жінки. Як вони
наважились? Мабуть, не останню роль відіграли розповіді прибулих: станція обладнана сучасними
приладами, чудовий бар (кажуть, найкращий на шостому континенті). Усі ці "дрібнички" роблять
працю не тільки ефективною, а й комфортною. Чи треба нагадувати, як важливо в цьому житті "піти
по-англійськи"?
