Tại sao chúng ta phải thực hiện đánh giá thường xuyên?
Principles of FA:
(1) formative assessment is student focused: hướng giúp học sinh cải thiện việc học, đánh
giá việc học -> có phù hợp không? -> điều chỉnh. Keep track được quá trình học của học
sinh
In brief: Formative assessment helps teachers
• Consider each student’s learning needs and styles and adapt instruction accordingly
• Track individual student achievement
• Provide appropriately challenging and motivational instructional
activities
• Design intentional and objective student self-assessments
• Offer all students opportunities for improvement
(2) formative assessment is instructionally informative: hướng đến teacher nhận thông tin
để thay đổi cách dạy cho học sinh.
In brief: Formative assessment
• Provides a way to align standards, content, and assessment
• Allows for the purposeful selection of strategies
• Embeds assessment in instruction
• Guides instructional decisions
(3) Formative assessment is outcomes-based: hướng đến curriculum designer, yêu cầu gì
đánh giá đó, đánh giá vừa đủ yêu cầu cần đạt. Nếu nhận xét ngoài outcomes thì nó là góp
ý chứ không phải assessment.
In brief: Formative assessment
• Emphasizes learning outcomes
• Makes goals and standards transparent to students
• Provides clear assessment criteria
• Closes the gap between what students know and desired outcomes
• Provides feedback that is comprehensible, actionable, and relevant
• Provides valuable diagnostic information by generating informative data
Curriculum designers => outcomes => T dựa vào outcomes được đưa xuống để đánh giá.
Thay vì là góp ý khác với đánh giá.
FA có 2 loại có chấm điểm và không chấm điểm. Nên cân nhắc về progress và products
-> phân vân.
____________________________________________________________
FA có 3 cái cần chú ý: principle/value – technique - theory.
Techniques = Forms of FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT:
(Trang 104, what T really know abt FA?)
________________________________________________________________________
Theory formative assessment: làm sao cho đúng. Cách đánh giá của mình phải thỏa
mãn 7 tiêu chí và 3 câu hỏi.
Formative assessment:
Characteristics of FA: (explore – 92)
Cần 3 câu hỏi:
- Where am I going? -> objectives -> Em cần sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn để miêu tả
thói quen hàng ngày
- Where am I now?
- Where am I going next?
=> Trong phần Feedback T cần đưa ra những cái guide để Ss có thể đc navigated
để đạt được cái Goals/ Objectives mà nó chưa đạt được.
=> Hs cần làm gì, cải thiện gì để đạt được mục đích –> Em cần thay đổi động từ
…. từ ed sang es/s
Khi cho ví dụ phải cho hợp lí (past simple để nhớ lại present simple)
=> Yêu cầu Ss dùng past simple để miêu tả việc mình đã làm hôm qua - Objectives,
where am I going?
=> Ss give answers => “I go to school yesterday.” => T feedback: em đang dùng present
simple - Ss’ current level, where am I now?
=> “Em cần đổi động từ Go -> went” - Ss cần làm gì, where am I going next?
Tương tự vector: điểm đầu, cuối, hướng.
________________________________________________________________________
Note:
Formal assessment = summative assessment (formal thì không nhất thiết không có feedback, vì
có phiếu báo điểm nên nó formal)
Presentation, group work, experience, survey, project, discussion, pair work, scaffoding, drills –
learning activities, methods
Oral test – testing
Informal test – FA
Learning log – 1 dạng của portforlio
Một hình thức đánh giá thường xuyên không phụ thuộc vào hình thức mà phụ thuộc vào cách
chúng ta sử dụng thông tin khai thác. FA phải thỏa mãn 3 câu hỏi và 7 tính chất
with Feedback => Formative
summertive assessment
no feedback => informal/formal

Cách thực hiện một PROJECT:
1. Post a problems: project title (ghi tên): kích thích trí tò mò của học sinh.
2. Chiếu cái OBJECTIVES:
- SKILLS: Dạy ít nhất 2 skills (4 skills): dùng ở mức 3 (apply, produce,… trong
bloom’s taxonomy);
- kNOWLEDGE: vocab, grammar, pronunciation.
=> Students will able to….
(skills vs knowledge trong sách, không chế thêm)
Ví dụ:
- Project: Students write a recipe in English and demonstrate how to prepare it in class.
Sample:
1. Project title: How to get rid of bad habits in eating?
2. Project objectives: [variable]
Students will be able to:
- Produce a written report with 120 words about what to eat and not to eat for special
occasions.
+ Grade 10: 120-150 words
+ Grade 11: 150-180 words
+ Grade 12: 180-200 words
- Use words and phrases about body systems and healthy living in their report.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to write about what to eat and not to eat for special
occasions in their written report.
- Explain how to get rid of bad habits in eating with the correct pronunciation of words
composing /pr/, /pl/, /gl/, /gr/.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to talk about how to get rid of bad habits in the oral
presentation.
- Use the vocabulary and phrase of body systems and healthy living in the oral
presentation.
(ghi skill trước để nhấn mạnh skill: 3 cái onjectives đầu skills)
!!!
3 tiêu chí:
- Thể hiện động từ thay đổi, [produce 150 words written report…]/ [Apply “will”
and “be going to” to write about…/ ]
- Phải có ngữ cảnh người học sử dụng ngôn ngữ: what to eat and not to eat for
special occasions in their written report.
- Tiêu chí đánh giá là cụm trạng từ: correctly, appropriately, etc. (nên ghi)
4 tính chất:
- Thực hiện được
- Cụ thể
- Quan sát được
- Thực hiện được
- Khi viết 1 cái OBJECTIVE: 1 cái verb + 1 cái yêu cầu
3. Rubrics:
Using words Words and phrases Some words and Many words and

Project steps:
- Ss write individually about what to eat and not to eat for special 8 First draft
occasions mins
- In their own group, Ss exchange their first draft and give feedback
to each other following the writing rubric. (peer-assessment)
- Ss get their own draft back, revise and modify them following
their peers’ feedback and the writing rubric. (self-assessment)
The answer for this question is in objectives. For writing, students have opportunities to
- Produce a written report with 120 words about what to eat and not to eat for special occasions.
- Learn how to use words and phrases about body systems and healthy living.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to write about what to eat and not to eat for special occasions in
their written report.
- Explain how to get rid of bad habits in eating with the correct pronunciation of words
composing /pr/, /pl/, /gl/, /gr/.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to talk about how to get rid of bad habits in the oral
presentation.
- Use the vocabulary and phrase of body systems and healthy living in the oral presentation.
- Where are the learners now? (lúc exchange và feedback, revise vs rehearsal)
- When students exchange this first draft to another one to give feedback to each other (peer –
assessment) and when students do self-assessment by revising their draft to determine again what
they acquire.
- For speaking, every group does peer assessment by rehearsing with the other, then each group
gains feedback from the other and knows their own level. The groups after that, revise by
themselves again (self-assessment) to have the final presentation.
If students are evaluated as “excellent” with the criteria in both writing and speaking rubrics,
they can be considered to have achieved the objectives at the beginning.
If students are evaluated as “good” or “need improvement”, question 3 will be dealt with.
+ The answer to this question is when students receive feedback from their friends and
themselves. They modify their written report draft and oral presentation following this
feedback and rubric to have the final product.
(This means feedback they claim from formative assessment lead to the modification,
which helps them improve the current level to address the objectives.)
For example, a student [1] uses some words and phrases about body symptoms…nằm
trong phần [nào đó]. Another Ss [2] feedback on Ss [1] about [sth] ko hợp lý, Ss [2] sẽ
modify nó cho hợp lý hơn.
Few: 1 ít, a few: có 1 ít -> khẳng định sự tồn tại

Lesson plan of writing [trang 22,23 sách 10 thí điểm]
1. Process writing: Writing a 120-word letter about what to eat and not to eat
2. Objectives:
- Write a letter with 120 words about what to eat and not to eat to reply to one of three
letters in part 3 textbook page 22.
- Use words and phrases about body systems and healthy living in their letter.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to write about what to eat and not to eat for special
occasions in their letter.
3. Checklist
Checklist 1:
Where is the organization confusing comparing the form of a sample in part 4 textbook
page 22?
Checklist 2:
Have you used words and phrases about body systems and healthy living appropriately?
Have you applied “will” and “be going to” in the letter correctly?
1. Planning 10 A list of
mins ideas
- Ss choose a letter in part 3 textbook page 22 to write a reply
letter.
3. Responding 5 mins
-Ss exchange their first draft and give feedback to each other
following the checklist 1.
4. Revising 10 second
mins draft
- Ss get their own draft back, revise, modify them following their
peers’ feedback. [ideas/content +organizing of ideas]
- Some students who have excellent and good score post their
letter on the board to share with the whole class.
Checklist 1:
Checklist 2
- Use words and phrases about body systems and healthy living.
- Apply “will” and “be going to” to write about what to eat and not to eat in their reply
letters.
- Responding stage when students exchange this first draft to another one to give
feedback to each other ( peer assessment). Through listening to friends’ feedback
following the checklist 1, they can determine whether they completed all the criterias:
finding the greatest strength of this reply letter, its greatest weakness and the organisation
confusing comparing the form of a sample in part 4 textbook page 22.
- Revising stage when students revise their reply letter following peer’s feedback (peer
assessment).
- Editing stage when students rewrite their draft with the modification of grammar and
vocabulary (peer assessment). This is following checklist 2 to determine whether Ss
wrote the letter in 120 words, used words and phrases about body systems and healthy
living appropriately, applied “will” and “be going to” in the letter correctly
- The stage of responding when Ss give feedback to each other (peer assessment)
following checklist 1. For instance, if a student found the weakness of another’s reply
letter, the other knows which parts need to be modified this weakness to be better. (dua ra
feedback ve thong tin chu khong phai tim duoc hay khong)
- The stage of revising when Ss modify their draft following their peer’s feedback (self-
assessment). For instance, a friend comments that he finds the weakness of his friend’s
draft is the unlogical organization of ideas, his friend should modify the organization of
ideas.
- The stage editing when Ss modify the grammar and vocabulary following checklist 2
(self-assessment). For instance, if a student finds that her draft used words and phrases
about body systems and healthy living inappropriately, she should modify the vocabulary
of the letter to be re-appropriate.
Notes:
Không dùng present the survey vì nếu vậy không trình bày kết quả
Khi viết objectives: đảm bảo các thành tố sau:
- Một cái thay đổi có người đọc (cụm động từ mức 3 trở lên: vd produce a written
report)
- Ngữ cảnh người học sử dụng ngôn ngữ (about, in …. )
objectives, có thể tham hảo ielts writing band description)
Level: 3 ( excellent, good, need improvement)
Description of performance level:
(Hỏi hs có thắc mắc j về rubrics không)
Learning outcomes có j thì rubrics y vậy
Continuum: Rubrics được tình bày theo 1 dãy liên tục (vd: stricly based – some –
many, hạn chế ghi số lượng vì giới hạn khả năng của hs, nếu dùng số -> checklist)
Grammar – correct, accurate
Vocab – appropriate
4. Procedure: planing, drafting, responding, re - writing, editting, evaluating, post writing
