UNIT 7: LET’S BUY PRESENTS!


PERIOD 2 – WORDS + SONGS + PHONICS
I/ Objectives:
- To identify more words about presents and birthday party

- To use words in the context of a song.

- To pronounce and identify the different of the sounds /cl/, /gl/, /sl/

II/ Procedures: ( 90 mins )

Lead-in
2/ Lesson 3: - Ask ss “When is your birthday?” and “Who do you invite to your birthday
Vocabulary party?”; “What present do you like for your birthday?”
(25’) Presentation:
- Elecit new words by asking about each flashcard (Write new words on board).
Model the words ss don’t know
- T says the phrases and ss repeat
- Hold the flashcards in a different order for children to repeat again.

Practice
Controlled activites
Listen, point and repeat.
- Ask Ss to open their class books and look at the pictures and words
- Play the recording for Ss to listen, point and repeat
- Ask individual Ss to say the words for the class
Guided actitivies
- Activity: vanishing cards: place a number of flashcards in front of the ss. Give
them a few moments to memorize the cards and then tell them to close their eyes.
Take away one card and then tell ss to open their eye. The first ss to guess the
missing cards gets for 1 point/stars and take away one card in the next round.

Pre- teach a song


Lead in:
Song - Ask ss about the title, write it on board
(25’) - Ask ss to look at pictures and describe what they can see.
- Ask ss to predict what the song is about
Teach a song
Listen and sing
- Ask sts to listen and follow the song/ point
- Have them listen again and underline the new words and explain the new
words (ss understand the meanings, speak out the words)
- Have sts listen and read sentence by sentence
- Play the recording for ss to sing along (whole class)
- Play the song for ss to sing, 1 ss can be Mr. Guss to stand up and say “Dear
my friends, come and have lunch with us”

Post teach:

- Further activities: Fill in the blank (Set time: 3 minnutes)

- Discussion: ask ss to remember the song. The divide the class into 2 teams, ask ss
to sing without book

Lesson 4: Lead in:


Phonics
(30’) - Ask ss about the model pictures, what they can see

Presentation:

- Present: write 3 sounds on the board /gl/, /cl/, /sl/

- Present models in turn and say the words for ss to repeat

Practice:

Controlled activities:

- Listen and point to the pictures

- Listen and repeat (twice)

Guided activities:

Activity 1: Group sort: T says the words, then members in each team take turns
classifying the words into the appropriate column on the board.

free activities: Listen and chant

Pre-teach a chant:

- Ask ss to look at the picture, tell what they see and predict what the chant is about

Teach a chant:

- Play the recording for ss to listen and follow

- Play the recording again and pause for ss to repeat sentence by sentence

- Chant sentence by sentence

Wrap-up - Play game: Revise the new words: match words with pictures

- Ask ss what they have learnt in the lessons, remind ss of the homework
